Star Wars: Starfighter (May 28, 2027)

Star Wars: Starfighter in theaters for Star War’s 50th Anniversary, with a far superior title design might I add.

By the way…

Is that another Naboo N1?

The sloping Star Wars text is a very nice deviation, but the bog-standard hyperrealistic 3D text atop it is really not the same vibe. They should’ve just added the subtitle below the logo.

Regardless, expect to see a hundred flying memes of Ryan Gosling in the same vein as the driving memes of him from years ago.

Is this a retro movie? Never heard of it.

Time for Star Wars: The Last Starfighter, I guess.

According to the leaked teaser, a de-commissioned G-17 Imperial Reaper. It is implied to be a rare sighting no one has heard about, which adds a tad legitimacy to earlier rumors that Gosling will play an ex-Imperial Remnant/First Order pilot apart of a ghost-squadron. Unless the nephew character had a relative who was apart of it instead and is why Gosling keeps it hidden away in a garage until Matt Smith’s weapons dealer character finds it?

Witnessing the interwebs explode with members of the Ryan Gosling fandom talk about how they are excited to be friends with the Star Wars fandom was certainly not on my 2026 calendar of strange outcomes. It made finding news hard, but curiously humorous.

However, I am glad for the difference in the logo from the older one featured in the first teaser. This one communicates their desire to be far more original-original Star Wars-centric, with a touch of new in the subtitle. Also, the subtitle reminds me only in the barest of sense to the style of the original SW:Starfighter video game that I hope a minor background nod is featured in the film in some visual sense.

In some ways yes, as the writer of the film stated he wants this to hearken back to 1970s Star Wars and be a swashbuckling adventure that is not lore-heavy and requires no in-depth knowledge of the current canon. The film takes place five years after Rise of Skywalker.
