That is not a reason not to do something. If anything, it’s a sign that that thing is worth doing. Much of the unhappiness over the contests’ very existence is something that the detractors, yourself included, have opted into.

I’m not sure to when it exactly expired but yes, these contests are as canon as your afromiented and then deleted third leg of the Shadowed One.

it do be a cycle of people not liking the contests doing things to make stuff a mess (and management not exactly helping) and that making people less confident in the contests even if they like the idea of them

You can ignore them, yeah, but that doesn’t mean they’re not canon.
Even if (and that’s a pretty big if) there’s some kind of legal issue with the canonicity of the contest results, that has no effect on the Greg Quotes.

Personally I feel like people that believe Greg has no power to make anything canon should just treat everything after 2010 as something akin to Star Wars Legends vs Canon. It’s easy to ignore the stuff you guys dont like after a very specific point, but the rest of us want to see how things could be. The Bionicle of before 2010 isnt going anywhere. Heck, someone could make a “purist” Bionicle wikia if they like.

Post-2010 we can consider his quotes the ramblings of a fan, and end there.
Meaning that it has as much pertaining to the actual series as developed by Lego as these contests, or that one German contest about criminals locked up in the pit.
and in any case, Greg himself said that movies go above other forms of canon

As it’s been repeated, it could had been just “Helryx contest”, “Artakha contest”, “Hagah contest” there can be no canonization contest cause there is no more access to tools to make it so. The word of Greg is that of an employee at Lego, without legal documents it is just the word of Greg and Greg alone. The Sure.

If you want, yeah. You can interpret the story however you want.
But all of the Greg Quotes were posted by Greg as a Lego employee, with permission from Lego to add to or otherwise edit the Bionicle canon. That makes them canon, for whatever that means to you.
