Without the facade of canon there wouldn’t be as much emotional investment, exemplary behaviours such as Double’s mocs live “rent-free” in someone’s grey matter.

Nah, but I hate all canon ever created by Greg, so I am in the genuine minority here.
I think he’s a mediocre writer who should’ve stuck with writing edgy novels for a half-forgotten TTRPG and left the genuinely interesting, Myst-inspired, setting about a sick robot and a chaotic computer virus destroying it out of his own mysterious intentions alone. And not poison it with WH40k rip-offs.

why would you judge kids books as anything other than kids books? greg went above and beyond what he had to do and wrote some very good books. trying to judge them by the same standard as something like a isaac asminov book just makes no sense
