Story: If the Toa-Dark-Hunter War was a video game

I don’t really know where to post this.

I just thought about the idea of how the Toa-Dark hunter war would be adapted as an adventure video game and what changes to the story this could bring. This is basically a remixed compilation of Legacy of Evil, Birth of a Dark Hunter and The many deaths of Toa Tuyet, only that it is structured to serve a more focused narrative that is structured to serve a game. While here and there some gameplay proposals are scattered, I won’t propose actual gameplay mechanics that don’t serve the story:

Intro: The intro is a tutorial where Toa Lhiikan maneuvers through the Toa fortress. He encounters Vezok, who is stealing the Makoki stone. Lhikan loses the fight, Hakann and Vezok are being recruited while the fortress is overrun.

Years later: Toa Lhikan and Toa Nidhiki are called to the colosseum of Metru Nui. Dume is threatened by the Piraka.Lhikan recognizes Vezok, but he doesn’t get the chance to act. The Piraka escape. The dark hunters start to cause trouble in the city. All the while wild Rahi are rampaging throughout the city, at a higher rate than usual. Lhiikan suspects Teridax. (The Rahi give additional enemy variety.) The Makuta of Metru Nui seems barely interested in supporting the Toa. The Matoran seem actually glad that he does not join the fight, because they still don’t trust him after the Archive Massacre.
The Toa Mangai are now playable. In each Metru is a Dark Hunter Boss, plus a Piraka quest. Quests could be for example chasing Reidak through a portion of the archives or following traces of a robbery scene to a secret hideout. While the Dark Hunter bosses serve to progress the game. The Piraka quests are used to tell of Nidhiki’s alliance with Lariska. In the final Piraka quest the Skakdi will reveal that the Makoki stone was last seen on Tuyet’s home island, when it was supposed to be sold. However that didn’t came to be as someone stole the stone.

After the final Dark Hunter was defeated a showdown starts at the Colosseum. Lariska sends hordes of weaker hunters, that the Mangai can easily take out. After that Nidhiki reveals himself as the traitor. A climactic battle results in the arrest of Nidhiki.
During that the Piraka assembled on the outskirts of the city to release the Kanohi Dragon. The dragon slenders through Ta-Metru and causes destruction with evey step. After one more confrontation with the Piraka as a team the final boss awaits. The dragon is eventually captured, and sent of the island alongside the Dark Hunters. Lhikan personally approaches Nidhiki’s cell to tell him that he will be banished to Odina.

Epilogue: Lhikan goes to Ga-Metru. He questions Tuyet about the Makoki stone. He soon finds out that she had indeed stolen it. Tuyet shatters the Makoki to reveal that the Nui stone was hidden inside it all along. It comes to the true final battle, although the atmosphere is much less epic and way more somber.Tuyet is eventually arrested. Lhikan sits down on the coast to gaze upon the ocean. He wonders whether things will ever be better. Just then it cuts to Makuta who initiates the virus that will soon put Mata Nui asleep.

The End.
