He might make note of the presence of a stranger, and react to that in some way
Maybe he stops to listen in on the conversation before joining in
Well, Mako went through a lot of posts to go get a bow and shoot some birds, and then fired an arrow at, presumably, the birds.
He then suddenly decides there were no birds and rushes downstairs to take part in the conversation. It’s definitely unnatural feeling for Mako to completely abandon course for no reason.
@Winterstorm345 never said there were birds, and I assumed that since there was no reply, there were no birds. Furthermore I fixed the post.

it’s sad how rook would have an easier time climbing a ladder while holding something that dolphus did
