Small critters a little larger than a Kanohi which can be found in small groups in high grass and bushland. They generate energy bolts which they shoot from their tails to bring down small bird Rahi, their prey. Larger beings have not much to fear from these energy bolts, however. For a Matoran for example it would be like getting a light electrical shock.
More problematic are Bolt Scorpions for electrical devices. Using their converted pincers, they can tap them to withdraw energy and use it later to fuel their energy bolts, also making them a little stronger. In populated areas with modern industry, Bolt Scorpions are thus considered pests, as they damage machines and devices in the process.
Tektira:
Living in the oceans, these crustacean Rahi can reach a “wing” span of up to 1 bio, though some say larger Tektira also exist. They are swift swimmers, but also capable of skimming over the water for short periods of time.
They prey on small fish and seabirds, which the catch with their powerful mandibles. To make the process easier for them, the Tektira produce a weak sedative venom they inject into their prey so that it struggles less. Most larger beings have little to fear from this venom, however, though some alchemists are known to catch Tektira, extract their venom and concentrate it.
More tablescrap Rahi. The anomalocaris one was basically a spontaneous challenge after @Petrus went “those would fit perfectly into Bionicle”. And with the scorpion I just wanted to build something in lime.
These are, dare I say, epic. The anomalocaris looks excellent, I’m especially fond of the color scheme on it. The scorpion is also pretty neat, the printing on the RoboRider heads fits the aesthetic, and the use of a Glatorian fist is inspired. They both fit in very well with the world of bonks.
Love both of these! The part usage on the scorpion is genius (the pattern on the claws fits extremely well with the backstory you’ve given it), and you replicated anomalocaris to a tee. Now that I’ve seen it though, I’d be curious to see a Bionicle-ized opabinia.
These are both wonderful, but I adore that little bolt scorpion - the design is so simple, but so clean. And of course, I’m always a sucker for some good fanon, so I love the amount of thought that went into their descriptions too.
Your Rahi are always fantastic, Gilahu, and these are no exception. The colors on both are eye-catching and the choice of body forms is unique and interesting. I think my favorite part is the Glatorian hand as the head of the Bolt Scorpion, though its spring missile tail is also great. It really looks like something out of the early years of BIONICLE.
