If you live in the US, there is no way this country can sustain itself for the next half century. We have too many problems, too little people willing to fix it, and too much debt. By the time you retire, there will be no social security for you. By the time you have kids, your income will be leveraged by the crippling debt left over from your college loans and the taxes that will increase to curb our excess spending. No president will ever be able to save us, no party or way of thinking or religion will spare us from our fate. We’re weighed down because every single decision has to go through thirty other different people who have re-election on their minds, through countless committees and months to years of time before a difference is made. We’re riding out the wave to live as happily as we can, but it was never any use.
America isn’t a dream, it’s a time bomb. And we’re covering our ears with our hands pretending we don’t hear the ticks.
Everything you have accomplished or will ever accomplish is meaningless and will never have any impact whatsoever in the long run.
Also, the chance of anybody remembering your name 50 years after you’re gone is close to 0 %.
