My latest obsession has been making a complete deck of playing cards. Here are all of the faces, aces, and the back— all I have left to do is crank out the pips and the box and I’m gonna be ready to try actually printing it.
I’m glad I could pose as reference for each of these cards
Why’s the back two trees with theater masks circling a circle with guns observed by two massive skulls?
I am but a vessel
Summary
I have no idea and made this entire deck around the theme of “vaguely disconcerting dark line-art”
I’m now tempted to make a story based on these cards (if only because a phantom gunslinger in a deck of cards that mainly features medieval persons is definitely intriguing).
Well, you did that lightning fast and it was sick.
I put together a little trailer for the art in the deck: https://youtube.com/shorts/nBBhBsSseww?si=bD8VgTMh685Asf0N
Oh wow, those are incredible!
I’d honestly pay for a copy of these if and when you do print them!
Thanks! They should be printed at some point.
The playing card deck looks beautiful in this art style.
That jack of diamonds be like “what fourth wall?” Honestly all the diamond designs are my favorites
Wait a minute, how did you manage to get your illustrations made into cards like that? How much did that cost to have these cards made?
Utterly delectable
Only complaint is the grey background and the white edge don’t really vibe too well, but I’m sure that’ll be sorted before this becomes an official Sabretooth product. Really good work with these!
I used MakePlayingCards.com. Production cost $20-something and shipping was another $20 because they are located in china— hoping to switch to a more local producer if I can. With most places that make playing cards they get cheaper as you order more— so if I were to somehow manage to be sure that 100 people wanted them, they might only be $5 each to produce.
@Ghid Thank you! I am actually so annoyed about that gray— I used Darktable to batch-edit the cards so that there would be a thicker white border around the edges to help with bleeding, and I didn’t notice until after I had ordered that it seemed to slightly lower the white balance/exposure of the base images to do so. That will definitely be corrected.
Here are some more photos I just took!
Now i wanna buy one.
I second that, I gotta get a deck, they look phenominal
Thank you both!
Update! I ordered (with help) a large quantity of an updated version of the deck with the coloring and typeface corrected, only to realize that I somehow uploaded the new three of spades card without the actual suit symbol in the corners! I have no idea what editing action I could have done to delete it in the first place. Curse my luck. Now I wait for a large quantity of replacement threes of spades to arrive!
New update!
They are done, and I will be including DuneToa’s awesome story that he wrote when I distribute them.
Dang, really high quality images there
Did you use the same site/service to print them as the test ones?
This is really beautiful. Say what did you base the queen on? Medusa from Marvel? I ask because of her hair.
