"The crimson knight" a cosplay of my OC

made with cardboard and eva floormats

So, last month there was a convention and when I learnt of it i, of course wanted to go in cosplay. Being a coward I was scared to eff up a well known character so i went for an OC. I didn’t know which one to chose since i wanted to avoid learning to sew and i landed on this character.

“Less fur and no cool sword and i should make it… probably” that’s what i thought. I only had one month so plans had to change a little. originally the cgaracter was fully armored but only having cardboard to work withI couldn’t make some parts in time, especially the abs and the skirt so I made a tunic with the power of hot glue

unused pieces (helmet, biceps, thighs, knees and toes)

used pieces

prototypes of the chest and shoulder

shot of the arm with icep and elbows

other sketches

so, for materials I used cardboard, not the corrugated kind the smooth kind that was 1mm thick. for the shoulders since they are curved I used one of the 3 floormats I had. the wig is just a cheap one from amazon. I also used hot glue, super glue, craft foam for fake belts, silver spray paint and a little nylon webbing.

that’s it for today. I’m already working on the next armor for the convention in may. If I had to describe my next project I would describe it as fantasy, blue rose bazooka princess with a really small touch of sci-fi

nice. looks very medieval!

Woah, I’ve always admired people who do cosplay, it’s so cool to see the things they make. I especially like the helmet. It is very nice.

Wow, for cardboard, that’s pretty great! The helmet and chest-plate especially came out really nicely!

I’ve had some hit or miss cosplay projects in the past, but you’ve done this really well! Nice job!

Good job, especially for a cardboard Cosplay, looks really good.

never underestimate cardboard.

well, using the right kind of cardboard is important. I used a type of carddboard that is similar to a cereal box just thicker and I could curve it using water to wet the back of it. If I used the standard corrugated type it would have been a lot worse. the design of the armor also helped, curves are relatively easy but if you have complex curves you cant achieve a nice bend, that’s the reason I didn’t make the shoulders with cardboard and I didn’t mmake the abs

Looks pretty good!

Wait, I’m confused. Did you not make these parts in time for the convention, or was there a different reason for why you didn’t use them? The helmet is very good

I couldn’t finish them in time. The helmet wasn’t painted fully, the thighs didn’t have the straps to keep them on, the knees weren’t finished and the toes just jumped off my shoes while i walked so i took them off the second i was out of the car. Projects that have a strict time limit don’t go well with my tendency to procrastinate so i ended up not finishing some pieces, another reason was the lack of proper planning.
