The Round of 16 had lots of action in it as well. Just like Ash and Gravis in the Round of 32, Skylor and the First Spinjitzu Master were neck-and neck for the majority of the voting period. Initially, Skylor was winning as projected, but at some point the First Spinjitzu Master flipped it in his favor, and maintained the lead. Aside from Ash v. Gravis, this was the closest battle of the tournament, with Skylor losing by just one vote, 13 to the FSM’s 14 votes this round. This was a shocker for me, because the FSM doesn’t really have much of an established character, while Skylor is clearly a fan favorite and is one of the most well-liked elemental masters in the fandom. But this was not the biggest upset of the round. The biggest upset came in the form of Garmadon v. Zane. My projection was that Zane wouldn’t have much difficulty in beating Garmadon and advancing to the QF’s, but he was thrashed by Garmadon who finished with a lead of 9 votes, a much lower tally for Zane than I had anticipated. Kai vs Bolobo went as well as anyone would have expected it to, Kai winning an unsurprising 26-1 majority which places him at the top of the cumulative leaderboard along with Cole, a massive comeback from his low ranking among the top 16 at the conclusion of the Round of 32. The other matches were pretty uneventful, but the Overlord came very close to beating Wu.
