The Hawkflight Archives, Vol 01: The first BIO-MOCs I have on camera (2009-2012)

ah there’s more.
nice
I like the gray man with gold armor.

Grey man with gold armor looks like an absolute chad.

Yeah I second that, he’s got the real giga-chad energy, he’s the sort that would deserve a revamp!

He has a chronicler’s staff codpiece

I was not expecting grey-gold-man to receive such love, maybe I’ll revisit him but I’d have to think about how to preserve his energy.

Today we come to one of my weirder collections of old BIO-MOCs, and that was when I started making two characters that were identical, so that I could create an RPG for my MOCs.

these guys were probably pretty low level enemies, and also good demonstrations of how bad of color schemes can exist when trying to create characters with identical builds

Then again, I don’t think I would have come up with dark green and orange on my own, this one actually looks kinda cool.

I don’t know what these are

with CCBS it was significantly easier to make characters who were identical in shape with decent coloration

Shoutout to Ackar and Berix for sharing a helmet and allowing these guys to exist. I think this is one of the better designs out of this bunch.

As opposed to these guys with thornax blasters and a dagger.

These look like the elites of the previous ones, with longer swords and also they can fly.

This appears to be the remains of the CCBS

Bad photo of some sort of flamethrower trooper

Flamethrower trooper but clearly also a woman because of the Kiina helmet and torso

Lastly, I think this was the protagonist, with his weird arms. I quite liked the Solek helmet, and I also quite liked the Lewa Phantoka blade, so I put it on my main character.

Join us next time, I think for the part where I try to build Hero Factory villains without owning any of them.

cool. I think the favorite out of this bunch is the orange and green guy and the two guys with saw blades.

As promised, my interpretations of Hero Factory villains, circa June 2011

Meltdown. I guess I ran out of arm pieces so I came up with these short arms.

Corroder. This one works better than the others just because the stance and the mask work together pretty well.

Thunder. I don’t remember what weapon he had, or how close this contraption was.

Xplode. This was the only one of the lot that I ended up getting, and surprisingly he had a similar arm structure, just better looking.

Rotor, also known as, Pohatu once he stole Photok’s jetpack and a Thornax launcher.

I’m not sure why I didn’t build Von Nebula, but I did build Vapor, who AFAIC has no part in Hero Factory media.

Moving on to the Fire Villains, we have Drilldozer, with his mighty waist forearms.

Nitroblast, with… Onua claws for thigh armor?

Jetbug, whose short arms seem more reasonable than the first two,

and Fire Lord.

Join me next time, for the part where I start to try to use CCBS and BIONICLE pieces together.

these guys look pretty janky. My favorite is Pohatu with a thornax launcher.

Some of these are pretty good at representing their HF builds

I don’t know whether to take that as a compliment or an insult

anyway, here are some MOCs from 2012, which means we are reaching the end (of this topic at least)

This was “Lord Sharrdon”, and his similarity in name to Shaycon, the other all-black character, remains a bit of Hawkflight lore.

this is a bird with bat wings

This was “Lord Rein”.

this guy has such short arms, but I think he looks kind of cool otherwise

This was one of the better ones of this wave, I think.

The gem on this guy’s weapon is important in some capacity, though I don’t remember the story. It was probably a generic power provider.

Not much to say about this one

Shout-out to this guy’s grappling hook (I think that’s what it was), alongside his forced color blocking.

this one ought to have had white shins

this was a bit of a mess

hopefully the last MOC I see for a while that just looks like Ackar again

balljoints with CCBS armor attached to Av-Matoran arms

!

This one I remember was named “Wind Lord”, and boy does he look like one. Not sure how the double-kneed legs fit into his job title.

it’s a Kiina headed MOC without Kiina’s fin armor? What?

oh, that’s where it went

this looks like I’ve seen it before, but it’s actually me connecting it with a MOC I built later

ice forearms

it’s a gold man with golden blades

Robo pincers

Yet another pegleg

Yet another MOC that’s just Malum

Three metallic sections, all a different color

I believe I have one more folder left of these waves of Inikabuilds, so stick around for the possibly epic conclusion of The Hawkflight Archives, Vol. 01!

Ah neat
My favourites for these ones are the lime guy and the blue and gold guy.

“And my pain reigns from up down and sideways, thank Mata Nui it’s Friday…”

Ignore that uh reference there…

I agree, the plating looks quite solid and the spears look cool.

This is actually my favourite, I can clearly see it’s a bug creature and the part usage is really cool.

Ghid after leaving Taco Bell for the first time circa 1997 colourised

I think his arm mounted rotors work well and the hand jetpack things look better than I’d think.

it took me a while but I got it

Today we have yet another slew of identical-ish designs, with the added bonus that, by disassembling them after taking pictures, you can see what my BIONICLE parts collection looked like at the time. I don’t recall whether it all got chucked into a bin, or if this was the point that I started sorting parts into drawers.

Would have done the color distribution on this guy a bit differently now, but I think orange and two shades of blue made for a good color scheme.

Two guys with scarab shields and tridents. AKA, their choice of weapons is in relation to one of two canonical romantic ships in BIONICLE. The other being Sahmad and his wife.

This is an interesting monstrosity

Man with what I assume were grenades, and another color scheme I don’t think I’ve ever revisited

Midak Skyblaster arms aside, I don’t know why I went with a Strakk mask for a red-heavy build

You have to admit, simple CCBS builds tend to be a lot cleaner than simple G1 builds

that’s just Nex’s weapon pretty much

the lore implications are trickling back to me - I believe this theme involved G1 builds versus CCBS builds, and this one was the general of the G1 builds.

We have ourselves a trio of snipers with spiky armor

jetpack men with short little blades

animal people

This I think was the general of the CCBS faction, on top of being a more successful colorful build than the G1 general

and, once again with a Lewa sword and Solek mask, our protagonist, who differentiates himself by being the single user of a Hero Factory 1.0 torso.

Yet another nonsensical creature build

Av Matoran with knees

Another orange and blue build, next to I think the only one that has six unique colors.

That’s it for this batch. Next time will probably be wrapping things up with any BIONICLE builds pre-2013 that weren’t in these Inikabuild batches.

These guys look pretty random. Uh I guess my favorite are the basic ccbs builds as they look the most cohesive

i love how they’re photographed among wastelands of parts

im getting more flamethrower vibes from his weapon, hes probably my favourite build of this batch

Today I have some primarily CCBS based builds made at various points.

first of all - here is what my BIONICLE and CCBS part inventory looked like at the end of 2011.

12th 055
This looks to be a combo model of Rocka 3.0, Stormer 2.0, and some extra black armor bits. Lots of unnecessary appendages.
12th 056
This was a Stringer 3.0 and Nex 2.0 combo.
12th 057
Furno was the only character I had two versions of at this point (2.0 and 3.0), so I made this
12th 061
This one was Evo/Breez/Surge, and probably the best out of this group.

AugustCamera 3 033
From the head structure, I would assume this was the older brother of Click from The Legend Reborn.
EJF 020 (640x480)
Here we have some four legged walker things.
ErkelonJayPictures 016 (640x480)
This was Ruune’teska, ostensibly my first attempt at a titan type build.

Combo model of Black Phantom and Core Hunter - I believe I named him “Ragne”.

Unless I have more MOCs in this time frame I want to post, that’s the end of this topic - but stay tuned for future “Hawkflight Archives” topics with different MOC types!

I mean for the most part these look pretty ok. My favorites are the gold scorpion guy and Ragne.
