Hi, I’m Slime, and for like 23 years of my life, I didn’t really have a work surface for building LEGO. I came a realization that I could change this after watching a video that @Marendex_T17 showed me. This video featured Adam Savage sorting his collection, then building lil boxes to put them in. I’d been thinking about building a piece of furniture for a while, but that video pushed me over the edge and to just do it.
Here’s the final product first. I’m really happy at how it turned out.
My original concept sketch. I originally was going to have the storage below. A stupid idea, in retrospect.
Here’s most of my collection pre-sorting. As you can see, things are organized, but not very specifically.
And here it is sorted. I ended up needing more containers than I anticipated.
Here’s the updated sketch. This one looks pretty close to what the final result ended up being.
My dad had some maple boards that had been milled like 15 years ago, but hadn’t been planed. I didn’t grab a picture of those boards, but here’s some that look identical.
Here they are after planing. My dad’s planer broke, so we ended up using my dad’s friend’s.
Here’s after the frame and hutch were built.
Here’s with the plywood top and legs cut.
Here’s the first time everything was assembled. But it still needed to be sanded and sealed.
After like 16 hours of sanding and sealing, it was pretty much complete.
Here it is again.
And here’s Jerry, the first MOC I made on this table.
I could not have done this without my dad. He helped me so much with this. All shoutouts to him.
anyway bye
