Adele leads the group out into the street and heads north, but turns into the first side alley she finds. She leads the group through back streets in this manner for 20 minutes until the reach a small road titled Aquiline Street.
Garbage and other refuse lines the gutters and crumbling sidewalks. The buildings are all uniformly run down, and many seem to have been quite obviously repurposed. The street is empty aside from two stray cats, but she glances over her shoulder anyways.
“Purely out of curiosity, how many of you work for the government?”
“They wouldn’t be experiments if they were successful.” the statement may have confused you, but you chose to ignore it. “Gerald, fetch us some tea. will you?” The servant walked off briskly. “Now what brings you here?”
Alexander seems equally paranoid you notice that he is gripping his monkey wrench as if ready to draw a sword from its scabbard
“Well… you may not belive me, but here we go. I and a few others are stuck in some kind of a time loop, which ends everytime with our death, all of us” George told Enzo “we have theorized that to end this loop we need a battery that can store a large amount of energy, and knowing that you study electricity and batteries, I came here to ask for your help”
“yes… jokes” George thought it would be better to stop talking about time loops and such"so, the real reason I need that powerful battery is that I’m helping in a study to understand how this city stays in the air, but to test an hypothesis we need a very beefy battery, we absolutely cannot use any other power source. I know that you love testing stuff, so, I came here to ask. It may also interest you the possibility of studying a few of the core principles that keep us from falling to our death, plus, you would never miss an opportunity to put your name on a study as important as this"
Ryan was busy working on the pumps when he heard a noise come from the observation room. He turned to see a very annoyed looking person standing in the doorway. Ryan didn’t recognize the person and they didn’t have a lab coat or guest badge on. Ryan rested his hand on his revolver. “Who are you?” He asked the figure the figure stepped forward. It was a man wearing a yellow jumpsuit and a strange hat. He only knew of one family that wore that color: his family, none of which particularly liked him. Of course, the feeling was mutual.
Dr. Agler has seen similar neighborhoods in his past. He occasionally takes walks in similar looking places, and he has a history of giving money to the poor.
Alexander laughed but other than that remained silent.
"Ah there it is. I would be fine with you borrowing my research, but I’m afraid I won’t be able to help with your Project I have other things to attend to. But if you need one of my batteries feel free to take one it’s in my personal lab. Enzo grabbed one of the cups that Gerald had brought and drank from it "Gerald please Lead Georgie to my Personal lab and help him bring the battery to wherever it is that his project is residing.
“Oh I’m surprised that you don’t recognize Me.” the voice was familiar you might be able to determine who they were.
Adele makes her way to a building numbered 792. She glances over her shoulder again at the watchers, and then knocks in a pattern of 2 short, 4 long, 3 short.
“thank you so much mr Bends” George followed the servant to Enzo’s lab and a few minutes later they returned to Ryan’s lab with the battery “thanks for the help Gerald, thank Enzo again for helping me”. George entered the lab “Hey Ryan, got the battery, Enzo couldn’t come but at least he let me borrow it.”
Ryan thought for a moment, then he realized, the person sounded a little like his uncle. “You’re Errach’s son, aren’t you. My my, you have gotten big. Why are you in my lab, you don’t have authorization?”
Ryan turns to George. “Ah, great, just give me one moment while I deal with my cousin… Ah, what’s your name again. It’s been so long.”
The door to the two story building opens a crack, and the group can see the shaft of light shining and reflected by an eye. After a second, the door opens wider, and a man steps halfway out.
“Ah, Vi…” His voice dies as he sees the rest of the group. He is wearing a grey uniform, government-issue to those that recognize it. He has a short shock of blonde hair, and has a very thin and very tall build, and seems to be in his early forties. His eyebrows draw together in confusion as dark green eyes sweep over the group.
“H-how may I be of assistance? Please,” He adds after a pause and a glance up and down the street, “Come in. Please.” He says again, and while it seems he intended it as a courteous gesture, it comes out more as a plead. He opens the door wider still and steps back inside, motioning for the group to follow.
Adele gives the rest of the group a brief glare and a movement of her thumb and index finger across his lips, before stepping inside.
The room the man has led the group into seems to be some form of waiting room, but it appears largely unused, with a thing layer of dust over everything. Nevertheless, there are several armless, cushioned chairs, which he gestures for the group to sit in.
