The Makuta - Void form

Hi everyone! This is my rendition of the Makuta, as seen in the final chapter of the MNOG from 2001, his Void form. This is from a time when Makuta was more of a force of nature than an actual, physical being. He was the shadows, and he was chaos. He was Nothing.

This was an absolute blast to build, especially posing the tentacles. If you’ll notice, almost his entire build is based on 2001 and before parts, save a few ball joints and pin/axle pieces. I really tried to have him be faithful to his appearance in the game, and hope you like him.

Most times when people have built 2001 Makuta’s swirling mass of parts, it comes off an insanely goofy and inaccurate. I’m happy to say this one nails the look perfectly, with no obvious gaps in the silhouette and an excellent parts selection. It’s very much the definitive version of his 2001 appearance.

Nice work!

@Ghid That’s very kind, thank you! I didn’t want to mention it, but I have never seen one that I’ve liked all that much for this form Makuta took. I’m glad to have done him justice!

@ChubChub86 Thank you! Yes, the stand was a bit tricky, but I’m pleased with it. Glad you are, too!

Very nice use of parts, I like how they’re (as far as I can tell) 2001 and earlier.

@TERIDAX941 Well spotted! Yes, all parts, save for a few Inika ball joints and the tentacle pieces are all 2001 and before.

This looks great! I think it’s probably harder than it looks to have a creature that’s an amalgam of random parts and still have it look good and not like a complete mess.

@HarryE22 Firstly, welcome! Secondly, thanks a lot. It actually was a bit of a job to keep him looking chaotic without looking messy, if that makes sense. The key was balance, while some parts are only used on the right side, they had to be balanced out by sections of equal weight on the left. Thanks for commenting!

Welcome to the Boards.

You really did a fantastic job with it. Do you plan on displaying it at any conventions?

@Ghid Thanks, again! No, I haven’t considered that, but I’ve also not been to a convention before. He’s also probably not one I’d mail to be displayed, either. I’ll think about it, though!
