It really doesn’t. It wasn’t funny, it was by-the-numbers. I was entertained… but barely. It also made me not want to play Minecraft again.

I think what Cronk is saying is that he didn’t want a serious movie. His issue is that the movie failed to be funny or all that entertaining.
For myself, I can’t imagine spending money on a movie that is barely good enough as a distraction.

Yes, precisely this.
Some years ago I watched the Angry Birds film and laughed at how bad it was. This film… wasn’t even funny that way. It was just not fun.
