The Mystical Emerald-Man

I decided I should share some of my concepts for an actual comic I’m gonna be making. So without further ado, here is some of my stuff for “Emerald”.

The comic series will be named Emerald. It’s a fantasy-based comic, except the characters are all in post-modern America. All the fantasy characters will be based on Celtic and British mythology, while non-fantasy will be my own characters I made myself.

This is the main character and hero of this peculiar tale, Stephen Barnes, AKA Emerald-Man. Given a strange jewel as an heirloom after his father’s death, he discovers he’s the next in line to become the protector of said jewel. Discovering it’s miraculous powers, he becomes the Emerald-Man, a protector of the people.

Trusted with a crystal blade, the Emerald (his source of his powers), and powers over crystal, he becomes an invincible hero.

This is Danu. She’s pretty much a goddess that controls powers over earth. Danu’s consciousness is trapped inside the Emerald (the one Stephen bears), but through the gem she can channel her powers for Stephen to use. She’s a mentor for Stephen and guides him in tough situations.

An ancient spirit, named Fetch, is a ghost with the ability to take different forms and disguise as other people. He’s an evil doppelganger, bent on trying to get his hands on the Emerald as he lives a miserable eternal existence.

Another villain of mine, Termite is a former scientist, named Seth Dwarn, who wants revenge on Emerald-Man for ruining his career in a freak accident. Dwarn built the armor to be able to kill Emerald-Man.

He’s equipped with antenae with heat lasers, hot enough to burn the crystal skin Emerald-Man makes for himself, extra robotic arms for combat, acid to burn through clothes and skin, and the suit makes him extra strong to take on Emerald-Man in combat. The suit itself is made of titanium.

Last but not least we have Ms. Matter and the Virus.

Ms. Matter, AKA Megan Mataline, was a scientist who was caught in a failed nuclear test and was exposed to anti-matter. Thus, she was given the ability to become solid, liquid, and gas forms. Her mind, unfortunately, began to become lost due to the constant flexing of it. Thus, she became insane.

The Virus, AKA Kevin O’Reily, was a micro-biologist, who was in his lab nearby the nuclear test and was hurt in the explosion while testing viruses. Caught with anti-matter as well with the micro-organisms, he became paralyzed from the neck down until he realized he could live absorbing the life of other organisms. He also discovered that he has the ability to spread illness by touch. Thus, knowing he had lost his successful previous life due to how dangerous he was.

And that’s really about all I have for this so far as it comes to actual drawings. Tell me what you guys think in the comments below!

Can you not edit my images please? I know they’re kinda hard to see but they’re personal property.

I didnt edit it, I just copied and pasted it, and it was darker

Oh.

That’s really weird then. Sorry.

These are great! I think the Termite looks the best.

These guys look pretty lit (:ok_hand:).

So the future?

No, right now. We’re in the post-modern age.

Ah. You worded it oddly, I wasn’t sure.

I really love these concepts.
In my opinion the one with the fur coat is the best.

These are charming. Nice style.

Well Ill say they are a bit rough but that is not a bad thing.

Ill like to see where this is going.

Old-school comic book stuff with a neat twist.

Me likely.

The character designs are probably what sell it, they’re really neat.

Could you elaborate on “rough”?

Thank you! I cannot tell you how many hours it takes to get something just right for me. I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to design of characters (now actually DRAWING them is a different story).

well.

I mean that your lines are very stylized and your style lacks a certian polish… sketches are rough,

I think Ill let artwork speak for me.

Example of a rough sketch

I mean no offence. But it helps the drawings in your favor gives it a certian charm.

Good good.

I am not sure how all people handle critizisme, some people are veeeeeeeeeery… "sensetive" about their artwork.

I have learned to better not chance it.

I’m not a fan of those people TBH.

Don’t be afraid to criticize. If someone hates you for critique it’s their own fault.

How fun. I also just so happens to be in that club already XD

Just don’t want to sound rude… I value criticism, but I am reaching a point where I need other artists to give it to me.
