As for the reason, I’m guessing Monstrox takes over Jetro. Especially given that Jestro’s face is Monstrox’s face if you zoom in.

possible explenations would be that Monstrox have corrupted Jestro (again) and have turned him into a slave by force.
Would explain the more monstrus appearance.

If we get a summer wave I’m expecting Monstrox to gain a humanoid form or brick-built baddy form.
This might not all be from the same scene. It could be several rolled into one.
well… we have to remember that a good number of LEGO sets that are a part of Themes that have a TV series… does not happend or have elements that are not a part of the TV series, one example i can think of for Nexo Knight is Infernox captures the queen. Never in the show did we see Infernox make an appearance.
its possible that Jestro’s Headquarter for example might not make an appearance in the 3th season of the tv show… or it might resive a major redesign like Worriz Combat Lair did in Legends of Chima.
WRONG. He and several beings like him were in the final episodes of season one when Jestro found the Book of Destruction.
They just looked very different from the set form…
It feels like a second act to me, I feel like 2018 we’ll get monstrox in a physical form and depending on sales we’ll go from there.
If? Seems like nexo knights is doing pretty nicely from what I’ve seen. Far far better than bionicle and about as good as if not better than ninjago, don’t be so doom-y.
Yeah, everything seems to be doing well. So far, few of the sets have gone on mass clearance (a very good sign, stores trust that they’ll sell at full price).
But this is only a Winter Wave, and if we get a Summer wave, then surely he’d gain a physical form then?
In addition, isn’t his form in the big set this year his ‘evil villain form’?
Its not ‘doom-y’ its just facing facts based on previous themes and story structure;
• Nexo Knights and other themes are normally given a three act structure. In this case ‘three season structure’
• This is the technically the third act of Nexo Knights as two acts worth of story were covered in 2016’s season 1 and season 2
• Castle themes have not lasted past two years since the 1990’s
• Ninjago movie release in 2017’s summer wave means that a Summer wave of Nexo Knights would be unlikely given they are both supposed to be ‘big name’ themes, and Ninjago will take priority with more sets than previously
• Monstrox’s army was the key feature of the books and him having them in the third season seems very ‘final act’ ish - and it appears they are unleashed
• Jestro going back to the dark side, whether by his choice or not, seems like an end-game storyline. He turned evil, now he’s turned good, now he’s turning evil but will likely overpower the evil because of his time being good
This is assuming you know the route of the story so far as fact.
Nexo knights isn’t just another castle theme.
Because as we all know Lego only has one big theme at a time, it’s in fact illegal for more than one successful theme to exist at any point.
The name is basically ‘Power Knights’
The entire theme is based on Knights and Castles with a plotline that is essentially mirroring Knights Kingdom.
It is a castle theme, regardless of whether you choose to view it as ‘just another castle theme’ or not. It even falls under castle themes when you enquire with Lego and even sites like Brickset or Brickipedia classify it as a castle theme. Its a castle theme.
Even with the sarcasm, regurgitating the obvious doesn’t apply here. Everybody knows that Lego can have more than one big theme, however you know what happened when The Lego Movie was out? It made up approximately 10% of the amount of sets we got in that year.
Now apply that to The Lego Batman movie and The Lego Ninjago movie both coming out in 2017. With double the amount of movies coming out, that is likely going to apply to sets also. With two very big themes receiving an excessive amount of budgeting, marketing and sets - compared to a theme such as Nexo Knights. It makes sense that Nexo Knights would be likely to suffer some cut down of sets or something similar.
It would be incredibly arrogant to not think that two movies with a release of a mass amount of sets accompanying them would have any effect on any other themes surrounding them. Even if Nexo Knights get a regular summer wave don’t expect it to be advertised as much or given as much focus compared to the brand new Nexo Knights movie that comes out around the same time.
That’s only 20%, which still leaves plenty of room to work for IP’s. Lego Superheroes and Ninjago already get a decent amount of sets without taking away from other themes, so I doubt there’d be so much of an increase to make much of a difference than past years. Bare in mind, The Lego Movie was a new theme, a new space for sets was needed. This cut down on other themes because they had to force it in, while Ninjago and Superheroes already have seats with their names written on it.
I suppose, but we’re also probably going to see tie-ins for other things such as Wonder Woman, Justice League, Guardians Of The Galaxy 2, Spider-man Homecoming. With so many big themes, the original IP’s may suffer.
Everything you have listed is a subtheme of Superheroes, which is still not the same thing as The Lego Movie. The Lego Movie needed an entire new theme, Superheroes just needs to reduce the “filler” sets to make room.
I don’t think this is very comparable to other Castle themes. NK was set up like Ninjago and Mixels, which usually is given a three year lifespan because of its show.
But TLM was going on around the same time as Ninjago and Chima and both themes were fine enough to last another year.
Well Ninjago is technically a Castle theme too, since it takes inspiration from one of its obscure subthemes, Ninja.
The LEGO Movie only made up around 4% of LEGO’s total product line-up in 2014. Star Wars was 6%.
Just saying.
Let’s just guess that these two themes get as many sets as TLM. They’ll still only make up about 8%, which honestly isn’t too bad.
I don’t really see how the addition of more superhero sets will really hurt their own IPs. They are all going to be underneath two themes which traditionally have tie-ins every year.
It’s sorta like saying that a new Star Wars vehicle coming out will damage other themes, while all it means is that what is typically a filler space will get an actually “needed” set (what I mean by this is things like the Death Star Final Duel, a good set but very much a filler set rather than something very relevant).[quote=“Plural, post:2106, topic:11247”]

For what it’s worth mentioning, Chima was kinda a failure in the long run, but it did well enough to survive three years (more than Bionicle). From what we’ve seen, Nexo Knights has sold much better than Chima, which signifies that it in the very LEAST has the popularity to last.
Just to clarify, the user @moa, a resident of the American East Coast, has mentioned in the past that at his ToysRUs he can find rows of shelfwarmed Chima sets. If that’s all it takes for a System theme to survive, then Nexo Knights should be absolutely fine. It was only until Brick Fair that I could finally find the King’s Mech.
For those who have the map of knighton, I direct your attention to it now, “lavaland” “cold north” “rockland” “wasteland”.
Lava was the villain motif last year, rock is the motif of this year, I’m not saying there’s foreshadowing there, but there might be foreshadowing there.
