Probably not, honestly. While I’m happy that Raichu finally got some attention over his pre-evolution for once, they look too much like Mega Pikachu X and Y instead of Mega Raichu in my opinion. So, they aren’t as high up on my list of favorite Megas as I would’ve liked.
Now, I present a sub-par teaser for three upcoming drawings, plus some information.
Playing off an idea for one regional variant of a certain Starter Pokémon, I decided on two others for a custom sub-arctic region. Basically further north than Sinnoh already appears to be.
The first sketch is ironically the last Starter I chose for the trio, the now Grass/Flying Type Sceptile.
Still very rough, and I haven’t entirely figured out how I plan to draw the tail (likely it’ll end up resembling Mega Sceptile’s tail). In subsequent drafts, expect more of Grovyle’s design language, since Sceptile sort of feels like it missed out on what made Grovyle one of the most popular middle evolutions of any Starter. Also take note of the hot garbage attempt at the leaf “wings” it would glide with. Likely I’ll try to go with a pine needle-look instead. Right now, it sort of gets the idea across, but it looks way too messy right now.
Eventually when I finish more concept art, I might create a separate topic to post the worldbuilding, since I have some ideas that go beyond just the starters.
Also I’ve created a rough draft of the stat spread and signature moves of the starters because I like theory-crafting, but that will wait for the world building topic.
Anyway, back to some offial Pokémon.
I mentioned my preference towards Water Types, but there’s another category of Pokémon I tend to like: the “Just a Little Guy”, like Whimsicott, Cherrim (yes, I am likely the sole fan of Cherrim), and, the subject for today, Comfey.
Comfey also became the mascot of my Yveltal shiny hunt in Pokémon Shield, and spawned the motto “My kingdom for a Comfey”.
This is so cool. Is that a regional variant of Sceptile?
Yes it is. As I said, it’s one of the three regional forms of Starters for that sub-arctic region. The other two will be revealed later.
