I have continued to think about this, and even discuss it with another guy. Here is my current mindset on how it would go:
(Important: Before anyone asks, I did not base any of this on the recent American election. All it did was remind me that I made this post. Any resemblance to real life events or persons is coincidental.)
Background: Our story picks up soon after the immediate issues from the end of the unfinished story serials have already been dealt with. Marendar was defeated, Kopaka and Pohatu have returned from the Red Star, those trapped in the Bota Jungle are safe (like Lewa, Helryx, Brutaka, Vezon, etc.), the Baterra hoards have been stopped, and an ideal location for Neo-Atero has been discovered!
Our story: Somehow there is a huge demand among the people, both Matoran Universe inhabitants, and native Magnians, for a president-like figure to rule the planet. Is this realistic? No, but it is entertaining to think about! And for fun, let’s throw Vice President (VP) picks into here as well.
Initially, some politically-savvy MU good guys consider running, like Defilak, Dalu, and especially Jaller. Some of the Turaga also consider the position, out of a sense of duty. Eventually, however, they recognize that the best pick would be Dume, considering his experience successfully leading over a large body of people despite its clashing cultures. While Dume has considered Vakama or Nokama to be his VP pick, they both suggest Jaller fill that role, which he dutifully accepts (with Hahli and the other Mahri cheering him on!)
Raanu has become the standout pick among the now mostly unified Magnians. Ackar is the crowd favorite for his VP, but Ackar himself is hesitant, his connection to Mata Nui somehow giving him a bad feeling about the whole thing (Gresh, Kiina, and the Toa Nuva have begun to feel this, too).
Velika has been in the shadows during all of this, trying to see where he should play his cards. He knows he himself can’t run because he’d either have to run as his usual obtuse self, or run with his true wisdom and risk people who know him noticing his sudden change in lucidity (he could have chalked his new sanity to Mata Nui’s healing wave, but he accidentally bumped into Kazi a while ago, who already complained about his riddles to everyone else). Right now, he is laying low. He has secured a position in Dume’s potential administration for some spot obscure enough that he hopes people will just vote down-ticket without noticing him. Meanwhile, he has been instructing Perditus to convince Raanu to make him his VP instead of Ackar. With Ackar being hesitant, Perditus easily secures the spot. The Ice Tribe would have spoken up, but they want to prove their willingness to submit to the rule of law after Metus made them look bad.
Meanwhile, something foul has been brewing. Pridak, now returned to his original strength and charisma, has been building a coalition of the rougher parts of both words. The Vortixx, the Skrall, Sisters of the Skrall, and Sand Tribe, among other likely groups (like Ehlek’s species, Pridak’s own species, etc.) are ready to have him become their leader. He even got the now leaderless Skakdi on his side after promising them that he would free Nektann from prison if they voted for him. The only issue he faces is that he must choose his VP candidate very carefully, or his coalition could come crumbling down. The other Barraki, strong and charismatic themselves, demand they be represented. Pridak doesn’t want them splitting off, so he promises to make them rulers and is considering making Mantax his VP (Pridak recently found out that Kalmah tried to strike a deal with the Mahri to kill him, Tacadox is in jail and wouldn’t be trusted anyway, and Ehlek dared to assault him that one time when he had the Mask of Life. Thus, Mantax is the least treacherous). However, an outsider has quickly risen among the coalition: Malum, whose pure strength has earned him the respect of many. In order to secure the support of the Magnians, Pridak may have no choice but to pick him.
The Dark Hunters have decided not to run. The Shadowed One was never a fan of democracy. He is too busy gathering his scattered hunters and nabbing all of the new rogues among the Magnians. Although he wishes that Pridak would stop stealing all of the ruffians. He may have to strike a deal with Pridak, whether he likes it or not. Maybe he can send Roodaka in to campaign for Pridak’s VP spot, which may require the Shadowed One somehow restoring her to the good graces of the Vortixx (whose financial support Pridak needs).
Amidst all of this chaos is chaos himself, Vezon. Vezon is running as himself. He either delights in making a mess of things, or he genuinely believes that people will love him. Either way, he keeps showing up uninvited to political events, and always teleports away before he can be arrested. Velika considers him irrelevant until Vezon announces that he has been endorsed by a Great Being. Velika, unable to tell how true that is, is now incredibly on edge because if one of his fellow GBs really is in communication with Vezon, there is a chance, however small, that he could be exposed. The issue is that Velika needs to appear at Dume’s events, but Vezon could literally show up at any moment unannounced!
Dume isn’t without a challenger for the MU party, however. Tuyet has quickly become a star candidate. She promises to turn Spherus Magna into a grand and stable empire! Takanuva knows what she is really capable of, but he has no evidence to convict this version of Tuyet. However, he is able to tell Jaller his story of facing her “Toa Empire.” Jaller is encouraged to fight back against Tuyet, with words and persuasion, before Tuyet loses it and attacks him. The ensuing battle is epic, and Jaller (and any other Toa nearby) comes out on top!
Eventually, the good guys realize that in order to defeat Pridak’s coalition, they need to band together. Raanu concedes the race and Dume accepts him as his VP pick. Jaller, though inwardly disappointed at first, humbly steps down as Dume’s VP pick, much to everyone’s admiration.
Things are looking bad for Velika now. With the two groups working together, Perditus can’t become VP. And even his own obscure position is in jeopardy with so many more options in this new, unified party. Worse yet, his 2nd agent, Atakus, has had no success in gaining any prominence in Pridak’s coalition. You know what they say: “‘If you don’t hate Atakus, you must never have met him.’" The one hope he has is that his 3rd agent, Kabrua, has gained Malum’s trust. This gives Velika an idea. He decides that the only way he can gain more control over this situation is through a crisis of his own design. He gets Kabrua, and by extension Malum, to suggest a campaign idea to Pridak: antagonize the Order of Mata Nui.
Pridak readily accepts this idea, telling the people of Spherus Magna that they have been under the control of a secretive organization whose leader has literally overstayed her welcome (him playing on the fact that Helryx has technically already fulfilled her destiny and could become a Turaga if she so chose). Ehlek is able to testify about how the Order experimented on his species. All of this begins to convince some of Dume and Raanu’s constituencies to start doubting the OOMN (people like Galva especially). Dume tries to distance himself from the Order, himself having had little interaction with them. Realizing that they could have both sides against them, the Order starts to panic a little, with some of its members suggesting taking matters into their own hands. Pridak revels in this newfound support, pushing this narrative further, though the constant talk of destroying secretive organizations has left the Shadowed One displeased. With tensions high between all parties, Matoran, Magnians, Dark Hunters, the Barraki, and the Order, a Civil War may soon be brewing. All according to Velika’s plan!
How does it end?..I don’t know, I just came up with all of this yesterday. You decide!!
