Kulta finally got his hands on the Mask of Creation, but he needed to something to test it on. Something that will easily turn the tides of fate in his favor. Perhaps, the warriors he lost less than a few hours ago could suffice. Testing this power, the corpses began to convulse. They couldn’t support their own life, reaching out for something to end their misery, but all they could find was each other. They began to melt together into a disgusting amalgamation that could chill any Okotan to the core.
“My friends. This is what the myths would could call a ‘Kaita’…”
Okay. This moc was made from a canon that I made up for the Bionicle Reboot before the book and the rest of the animations were released. A good portion of the lore was built off concepts from Generation 1. Kaita exist, and are a physical manifestation of the teams understanding of one another. Each Toa was a member of some form of Toa team from the eras before Okoto. However, they were from millennia apart, adding to the detachment the Toa have as a team.
Each Toa had to fight their respective Skull Villain. When the each of the Skull Villains took their masks, their past lives rushed back to them and become overwhelmed by the Golden Masks power. They would tell them of their pasts and how they related back to the Toa in their past lives, and once they finished talking to them, they asked for a respectful death. It was meant to pull the Toa out of their conceit from their victory against Lord of Skull Spiders and bring them to a better understanding of themselves and each other. In the end, Skull Grinder would reveal himself as Kulta, the ancient Master of Fire, who were summoned to aid the Mask Makers. Kulta blames his and his battalion’s death, and he was given the chance to enact his revenge by Makuta.
The main inspiration for Skull Guardian was the official combiner Power-Up Skull Warrior. I wanted to increase its stature overall and emphasize the chaotic nature of the an amalgamation of the dead.
His design also takes from the IXRolloutIX Kaita with its accent blades and weaponry being direct references to Wairuha. In universe, Kulta made him as an insult to the myth, saying if those truly were possible to do, then his men would have won. Instead, they were forgotten in favor of Ekimu defeating his brother alone. Erased from their proper place in history. As such, rather than taking most of his image from the Kaita, he was sculpted into Skull Grinder form.
