The Toa of the Hidden Sonics

I’m in the works of writing a short story about a totally noncanon premise, the Matoran of the hidden sonics. A group of Sonics Matoran that were relocated to Metru Nui before the Great Disruption, hidden in disguise in each of the Metrus… their names are familiar to you, but their stories are not. Their time in the pods made them forget their origins and they quickly came to believe they were actually Matoran of their respective disguised elements. They were brought to the island of Mata Nui and lived amongst their villages, redeveloping their identities.

Krakua at some point in the future is informed by Vakama the importance of turning these Matoran into Toa, and so he sacrifices his Toa power to create 6 new Toa of Sonics. But these Toa have unique attributes about them, due to the augmentations they had received at Kini Nui. Receiving augmentations meant for their disguised elemental affinity, these manifested into their Toa bodies alongside their confused self perception.

The time they spent with their villages and making friends and allies is a pivotal point of their own Destiny: to be Great Voices. Spherus Magna is a large planet and communication for the Matoran species is vital during their relocation. Each one of these now turned Toa can use their power of Sonics to communicate with each over vast distances so each of the new Matoran settlements have a quick form of communication, along with an additional Toa Guardian.

They will play a great role in the battle with the Gold Skinned Being and subduing their brainwashed former village mates, the Toa Mahri when it is discovered they were still under his control.

Toa Kapura
Toa of Sonics, the Ta-matoran augmentations he received at Kini-Nui manifest into his Toa body as an increased resistance to fire.
His weapon of choice is a flame spitter-shooting non elemental fire. His desire for this weapon was for symbolism sake, as his love for the Ta-matoran people is still great. He uses it in conjunction with his Ruru-flashing lights and his Sonics Toa power to disorient and confuse his opponents in combat.
He lives amongst the Ta-matoran and acts as a communicator for them. He co-leads the team with Taiki.

Toa Taiki
Toa of Sonics, all the powers of a Sonics Toa, plus the Le-matoran augmentations that he received manifested into his Toa body as an increased agility and speed.
His weapons are his vibro blades, capable of holding the resonance of his sonic powers and increasing their slicing abilities. He uses his Huna in conjunction with his sonics power to become invisible and muffled, becoming nearly impossible to detect. He lives with and defends the Le-matoran and acts as a communication beacon for them.

Toa Midak
Toa of Sonics-all of the powers of a Toa of Sonics, the Onu-Matoran augmentations he received manifest into his Toa body as increased strength and night vision.
His tool is the sonic drilldriver, he can use his Toa power to amplify his drill’s sound to deafening proportions. Using his Pakari he can drive his tool into the earth and create amplified quakes in his desired direction.
He lives amongst the Onu-matoran and acts as a defender and communication beacon.

Toa Kylma
Toa of Sonics, all of the powers of a Toa Sonics, plus an increased resistance to ice from the Ko-matoran augmentations he had received.
His tools are his drum picks, he uses them to amplify fine taps or can use their mallet end to create deafening claps. They are useful for climbing and swinging in conjunction with his Miru, soaring to high altitudes and dropping himself as a bomb creating sonic booms with a roar like an avalanche.
He lives amongst the Ko-matoran and acts as a defender and a communicator.

Toa Pekka
Toa of Sonics, Sonics power plus the Po-matoran augmentations he received manifesting into his Toa body as increased strength and hardiness.
His weapon is his ‘boom blade’ the heavy tool can create whistles through the air which he can swing with stone shattering force, amplified by his sonics power for massive destructive power. His Hau comes in handy for helping defend himself from his own demolitions.
He lives amongst the Po-matoran as a defender and communicator.

Toa Kai
Toa of Sonics, sonic powers, plus she… wait she? A Toa of Sonics? Yup! Kai is the only female Toa of Sonics. Kai’s augmentations at Kini Nui added more than just some additional elemental affinity. It manifests into her Toa body as increased lung capacity, very necessary to be an effective part of her Ga-matoran community.
Her weapons are her tuning tridents. Capable of catching sound for her to store or releasing at her command. She also has her fans, working with her sonic powers and her Kakama she can create waves of piercing whistles as she zooms through a battle field or use them to assist in swimming under the water.
She lives amongst the Ga-matoran as a defender and communicator.

I hope you guys enjoyed! I wanted to use Matoran that I remembered from the Mata Nui online game that stuck out to me when I was younger. I also enjoyed the concept of hidden matoran with hidden destinies and what would happen to a matoran with a mixed body and warped identity of themselves. This was the first team I built as an entire group so I hope you enjoyed this much!

I really like all of these. They’re all simple, but very nice looking.

Also I think you should either edit these posts into one post, or create a new topic for each of these MOCs. Quadruple posting isn’t allowed.

Edit 15 months later: in hindsight, I’m not sure if this manner of quadruple posting violates the rules or not

Thank you! And I fixed it

The builds are in my opinion a tad too similar but still fine. I really love the idea for their destiny-very original idea thinking forwards

Thank you! That was my goal so I’m actually glad you think that. A lot of people had or developed issues with this type of standard build but I always liked it. They all came from pretty much the exact same circumstances and Matoran builds so I saw no reason as to why they should look different. I also like my designs to look pretty similar to real set designs.

So they’re six Takanuvas except with sound :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
I’ve always felt they didn’t explore the whole identity issue with Takua as much, so it’s interesting to see your take of how this would play out.

Yep, pretty much! I enjoyed the concept of their destinies as well. In the story with them that I am writing their sonics power is useful in taking down the GSB by disrupting the sleep of the Skakdi, alongside the help of the Toa Hagah, the Mahri, and Turaga Krakua.
