I was really excited for this one and I’m not really happy with how it turned out, but I can’t quite put my finger on why. Anyone have any ideas what’s wrong with it?
I think it looks pretty good (it’s certainly better than anything I’ve ever drawn). I think his legs are a bit too muscular, maybe that’s the issue? Also, I feel like the eyes look a little bland, maybe try putting some lightning details around them? Idk, I’m not much of an artist, so I’m probably Not one to speak, but that’s what I noticed. Still, nice job regardless. I like it
The legs are definitely HUGE, but I wanted to make a thunder thighs joke so I’m fine with that. I think you’re right about the eyes. I just in general dont like how it’s colored and rendered to be honest. I think I’m gonna rework it
Sounds like a plan. I can’t wait to see the rework! Good luck!
Edit: also, nice joke
Yes, he isn’t fat
There’s no discernable wrist. Normally the arm tapers right before widening into the outside of the hand and the base of the thumb bones, and usually only defies this if the arm is fat and the muscles unrefined, making the transition look more like a tube. But even then there’s usually some indicator that the arm has stopped and the hand has begun.
Here, and especially on the right hand, there is no discernable beginning.
The biceps appear to take up too much vertical space along the length of the bone, as they appear to extend past the pit of the elbow and into the forearm. I don’t want to know what he did to make his one visible tricep that pointy or that high on his arm. And the upper legs being too long with the lower legs being too short is also an issue. Proportionally, his height is correct, but the actual length of the bones is a little improper.
Excellent lighting and shading, and despite its simplicity I’m a big fan of that lightning. Can’t wait to see what you’re cooking up next.
Oh, you’re totally right, I’ll adjust those things in my rework. Thanks for the feedback!
Oh! I just realized one more thing! Thor’s arms aren’t vascular at all. They need those weblike veins covering his forearms; rn he’s missing that tension because the veins aren’t there.
Still not dunking on the art though, I really like the progress already.
