Timothy Makoot

This MOC has story and concept behind it. PLEASE check it out (below the pictures), it is very important to the MOC. Anyways: Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you Timothy Makoot.

Alright, let’s get the background and concept behind this MOC out of the way. Strap in because this will tell you all you need to know about this character:

"So Timothy Makoot is a character in my series Bionicle: Terra Magna. Yes, the same series that CTK’s TTV CIVIL WAR (CTKs TTV CIVIL WAR Chapter 1) takes place in.

Timothy is a Makuta who became disgusted with Teridax’s actions and left the brotherhood. Unlike the other Makuta, he kept his inner light (and his physical form) and mixed it with the powers of darkness and took off for the surface world know as Terra Magna (Earth). Naturally Timothy took on a new name (Timothy Makoot) and ended up forgetting his old name. That name is now lost to history.

Quick update: So I completely misinterpreted the change the Makuta went through, no shocker. Umm…I’ll probably write in something about Tim finding a way to keep his physical form as a way for him to tell the brotherhood to screw off.

Timothy is a very humble Makuta who is actually very nice despite his appearance. He has always seen beauty in his surroundings and he greatly appreciates it all. Tim is also caring and helpful. But the memory of his past always troubles him. He wants to forget he was a member of the brotherhood, but that’s not easy to do. Sometimes he even feels somewhat bad for leaving his kind. After all, he is alone up on Terra Magna. But regardless of these troubles, Timothy dedicates himself to Terra Magna and will protect it all costs. No matter how despicable Humanity gets, Tim see’s it’s potential…plus he can always go “talk” to those being problematic.

So yeah, this is actually a reboot of this character. In fact, this MOC wasn’t even assigned to Timothy in the original draft of Bionicle: Terra Magna. But when I rebooted Bionicle: Terra Magna, I decided to re-write the character and assign him to this MOC that had gone unnamed for the longest time. A few concepts did carry over from the original. He has a connection to the Kra-Matoran Terrus and he has an attractive human disguise form.

The connection to Terrus I cannot say as it would be spoilers. And both Males and Females find Tim’s human form very attractive.

Powers-wise, Tim has the ability to manipulate shadow and light to do almost whatever he wants. There are some things he can’t do. While it is theorized that Tim is potentially the strongest Makuta in existence, this is completely unproven speculation. And if he is the strongest, he severely holding back his powers."

Let’s talk about the MOC.

Yes, I will be replacing the torso when I get some more parts. A custom torso is on the way. The piraka torso is just temporarily.

The CCBS parts: I added those to add on to him from his original version that I did not photograph. Also I like how that hand turned out, but I will admit that it is a little wonky.

And please give me advice on how to improve this MOC. He is actually a pretty improtant character and I am taking any advice I can get.

And no, he will not be appearing in CTK’s TTV CIVIL WAR.

I have to be honest, there’s something really strange to me about a Makuta with a human name.

Though I guess it makes sense with the story in mind.

Well if it helps you any, his human name is based off of his Makuta name. In fact, “Makoot” is based off of “Makuta.”

Lower arms are a little bland, and I see that the chest plate is supposed to go with the feet? (Odd color choice I have to say.)

Since story does not excuse flaws and has no bearing on whether it is either a good or bad MOC, I will be ignoring the story details besides the fact that this is a Makuta, as species does mean a lot.
Pros:
The hand is pretty dang cool, and it reminds me of my own Makuta MOC.
I like the way the torso connects, and although it isn’t terribly complicated, it works well. I’d even suggest keeping it as it is, since not everything always needs to be custom.
The weapon is pretty cool too.
The wings and arms are simple, but they do work well.
The cons:
The legs. Good lord the legs. I’ll be perfectly honest, I got nothing. They’re just… awkward, and it’s a shame, since with a different waist, they could work quite well, but because you used the Vahki waist, you created the problems of the extremely obvious blue pins, and the open ball joints.
I’d also suggest adding more gold, but if you still plan on replacing the torso, that wouldn’t be strictly necessary.

Now, here’s where I would end the review, but I just want to take a quick look at the story.

I… don’t like it. First off, there’s the thing about him retaining his organic form, which just doesn’t work, since it’s not something they chose to do in the first place. Next, the name is silly. I can’t help but think of him as an old man that some kid called an old coot and it just kinda stuck. The idea of a Bionicle character on Earth is also… interesting to say the least.

All in all, the MOC itself is actually a lot better than I thought it was at first glance, but the story just doesn’t work for me personally.

Well, I’ve read the concept, not sure if that is in any way important to the MOC. The only question I still have is why he’s named Timothy. I get if he’s going to Earth he might as well have a human name but he’s basically an alien so it’s practically useless. That is, unless Timothy is his natural name?

As for the moc, I’ll ignore the piraka torso.

The legs have an unnatural shape to it, the slim and gappy hordika legs are covered from the back by blocky and much fatter hordika feet. The front legs don’t look spectacular, either. The blue pins stick out and the rahkshi legs aren’t a good armor cover-er. I suggest reworking the hips so that the thighs connect to the waist via the balljoint on the rahkshi leg.

The wings are quite unnatural, as well. The ragged Antroz wings really don’t work well with the thin 2015 fins. Might as well use the normal wing pieces in a wing shape.

The left arm is generally a mess. It looks cobbled together and it doesn’t look consistent. The hand is the major offense here. You should consider getting rid of the antlers on the axe, or just make a new weapon altogether.

In all, this moc generally suffers from poor shaping and (something I forgot to mention) a really inconsistent texturing job. Most of the armor seems to just be for the color or because they hide up some stuff “okay,” but they don’t blend in with each other very well. Not to mention, the name. Just the name.

I like.
He’s pretty good.

I put the foot on the back to cover up that area. The Piraka torso looks awkward by itself.

By all means critique the MOC. I just wanted people to read the concept so they know what the heck is going on with the MOC. Plus he is a rather important character.

To be fair, I did take inspiration from Venom’s Mesonak MOC and the way his legs are. Originally Tim was supposed to be more Gargoyle like (a bit odd for me to say that considering he still looks like one).

Say what? I always interpreted the change to energy beings as something Teridax convinced the brotherhood to do. But apparently I am dead wrong…Well shoot…I’ll work on fixing it.

I’ll admit, Makoot does sound a little weird.

I promise I am not trying to be a smart Alec, a jerk, or dodge criticism; but you probably shouldn’t read Bionicle: Terra Magna outside of critiquing it. No offense, but you seem like someone who is against humans and Bionicles being together in the same universe.

Well he did want to forget his Makuta name… And logically he would want to hide his identity considering he is an outcast no matter what. Did you check the preface in the story I linked? You don’t have to read the story, just the preface.

I have noted everything you have said. If you are curious, Tim is Gargoyle based.

My logic behind the 2015 fins is that Tim adapted some different technology onto him. But I have noted what you said either way.

i can’t stop laughing.

First thing I thought of:

This is neat. Though, I think his hands should be a bit more similar.

Nice, well built, I love the left hand in particular.
