'Tis the Season to be Jolly, and Leave Me Alone

I think there’s more to it than greed. A lot more. There’s “the holiday spirit”–people are more self-conscious that they ought to live according to their better natures around this time of year (or, at least, most people are). They go out of their way to be charitable, forgiving, and friendly. That’s what really makes the Christmas season special, I think. Plus, as @pot8o said, it’s just a fun time.

I love Christmas, not just because of the toys. It’s spending time with the family, coming together, haing warm holiday love, and the cheery mood. Who knows, perhaps your heart will grow three sizes pretty soon and you’ll love the holiday of Christmas.

You see, it’s not about toys and greed… It’s all about love and unity.

My favorite Garfield quote goes like this: “Christmas. It’s not the giving, it’s not the getting, it’s the loving.”
If only the world was more like this…

Anyway, I love the christmas season with all the snow. But at the beginning of January, all the snow goes away and it gets Very VERY COLD.

Also who doesn’t like getting a break from school and work. :grinning:

I just wish the holidays were a little less mainstream. I hate the music on the radio, the ads, the even-more impossible traffic.

But I love the family time, food, days off, and presents.

But yeah, I don’t hate Christmas but the way it’s presented by the media sickens me…

Christmas is about love, joy, warm feelings, togetherness, and overall loving the world. I don’t care what commercialism says, what I think is this: Christmas is for a overall loving feeling and a time to love others, and if you can’t handle that, then Ba Humbug to you!

Be like Ebeneezer Scrooge all you want, but it will get you no where but a bottomless pit of hate, greed, and sorrow. It’s either you enjoy Christmas and have a good life or hate it and live an unhappy one. Sure, commercialism doesn’t help, but don’t you have the right to ignore it? I ignore it, and enjoy Christmas with my family!

Edit

This is what I think of people who have a cold shoulder about Christmas:

Edited for Double Post -Nyran

But yeah, this was a special case.

HIPSTER HELRIX!!!

in all seriousness rise if you want to yell at something yell at the companys that commercialize christmas. They suck out all the good in christmas and the good is all about being with your family and having fun. I dont know about you but i get this warm and fuzzy feeling from the winter holidays and i piety the fool who does not

I like winter holidays because its the only time my family actually spend time together as well…a family. But I do agree on the dumb radio stuff. Its like when an artist dies, they play their music for about 6 months. -_-

I love winter because the Romans celebrate the feast of Saturn. But then some eastern prince became emperor and decided we should worship the sun.

Happy feast of sol invictus guys.

What cult of Invictus? There is no such thing as a cult of Invictus.

Stay on topic… Stay on topic…

Anyways, why so cold-shouldered, anyways, besides not liking the commercialism of it? Is it because of something else besides that?
