Grading done, now time for MOC fun.
Backstory
Like Helryx and Orde, Boku was created as the first Toa of sonics, being the fifth created by the Great Beings.
Over many millennia, Boku honed his control over sonics, becoming especially adept at sound nullification and mimicry. Though these skills made him expertly fit for espionage, he
remained in his home, watching and surveying the island with careful observance. Even as a more brash fellow, he did make a close acquaintance with a Po-Matoran who he enjoyed accompanying.
His skills would not go unnoticed, however. After having received a message from the Brotherhood of Makuta, the local Turaga bid the masterful Toa to become part of the first Toa Hagah team tasked with being guards for Makuta Spiriah. While he did hesitate at first, his Po-Matoran friend convinced him to go, stating that his powers were worthy of such a title.
Upon receiving his post, Boku was gifted with armor made of precious metals. He also had his mask reforged in the shape of his Po-Matoran friend’s Komau, as he was the one Boku
respected the most. Being the eldest of the team, Boku was given the leadership role, regardless of his less approachable personality. Even so, over the team’s operation he became well respected by his fellow Toa.
After his failure with the Skakdi experiments, the Brotherhood declared Spiriah a rogue agent, and Boku and his team were reassigned. The team travelled to various Makuta bases
and other places around the universe, completing odd tasks with no clear goal. This left Boku disheveled as leader, seeing his team’s skills being wasted. This led him to petition the Brotherhood for a new post, serving under another Makuta as guards where they may be of some actual use.
He was granted this wish, and his team was assigned to Makuta Azdon, who was based far to the south. Though the remedial tasks continued to a degree, occasionally invading parties would bring back purpose and excitement to his team, who seemed to relish in
combat; they would often spend their free time sparring and keeping each other’s skills in check.
This, too, would not last. Much later, in response to a revolt by another team of Hagah, Azdon schemed to eliminate his team. Never being too trusting of the Makuta, Boku
found out his plan. Instead of warning his team, however, he would approach Azdon with a deal: he would take out his team so as to make it easier for the Makuta to accomplish his awful goal. In return, he was to be granted safety from the culling. Knowing of Boku’s more reclusive attitude and amused by the idea, Azdon accepted this deal.
That night, while his team was resting after returning from some work relocating a large group of Rahi, Boku, using the power of his Screech Spear, knocked his team unconscious. While some of his team resisted, like his deputy Kazan a Toa of plasma and Silua a Toa of psionics, the relentless assault of sound overcame them all rather swiftly.
Congratulating him on abandoning his teammates, Azdon gestured the Toa of sonics to take his leave. And so, he did. At least, as much as the Makuta would know.
After exiting the base, Boku masked his presence, instinctively making his movements completely silent, and reentered the facility. While giving his Rahkshi orders to move the
unconscious Toa, Boku awaited his chance. In a moment Azdon turned away, and in a moment Boku darted for his team, snatching his deputy’s Cutting Spear, and struck at the Makuta’s core. Azdon dropped without making a sound.
With the sudden disappearance of their master’s thoughts, the Rahkshi scattered in a frenzy. After taking the now deceased Makuta’s mask of transmutation, Boku left his team unconscious.
Upon returning to his homeland, Boku was relayed the news that his friend had been unjustly sent to Karzahni to be “fixed”. After receiving a token left behind by his companion, he left the island and headed for his next destination without saying a word.
Over his time working odd tasks for the Makuta, Boku had been to the Dark Hunter base before during a weapons supply. As he does best, sneaking onto the island was an easy task. Though convincing the Dark Hunters to let him join would not be so trivial.
Boku would spend the first few weeks on Odina making careful observation of the routine motions of its inhabitants. Finding a stable pattern, he discovered a window of time where he would be able to approach the organization’s leader without alerting any other agents. Patiently, he made his way through the fortress.
When the time was right, he unveiled himself to the one known as the Shadowed One, making quick effort to state his purpose of joining the group. Upon interrogation by the powerful leader, he offered up the Makuta’s mask as proof of his defiance of the Toa Code, showing he was willing to work against the system. Considering his craftiness in being able to get so close to him, the Shadowed One pressured him, making a bearing threat on his life should he be denied. Coldly, Boku would reply with his own threat: if he wasn’t accepted, he would take out the Shadowed One with his own abilities, either leaving him a bumbling mess by striking him with a confusion Rhotuka, or removing his ability to think with auditory pain. This tenacity pleased the Shadowed One, and he was welcomed into the organization.
Becoming a messenger for the group, Boku would be granted the name Code, detailing his job encrypting and relaying important information gathered by the organization’s agents. He would also be sent on spy missions, either gathering information himself or to observe any fellow Dark Hunters for treasonous behavior, of whom he was ordered to eliminate.
Over the next few hundred years, Code proved himself quite capable in his tasks and gained a great deal of respect from the Dark Hunter’s leading officers.
During Teridax’ reign, Code was tasked with observing the whereabouts of the Makuta’s forces, as well as taking out what he could. During the battle with Mata Nui, Boku exited the Great Spirit Robot and joined the fight on the surface of Bara Magna. After the Makuta’s defeat, Code resumed his previous order, now extending his investigations to the expanded new world.
Shortly thereafter, Code would be approached by a familiar face. It was his acquaintance, Velika.
Since his creation, Code had been programmed to be a sleeper agent for the disguised Great Being. Velika had him join the Toa Hagah as a way to observe the Brotherhood of Makuta and learn of their secrets and watch over their activities around the Matoran universe. After this mission was retired, he was given the orders to join the Dark Hunters for the same purpose.
After exchanging some valuable information, Velika gave Code a new communications device that would keep him in contact as he traveled the planet. Velika would have him chart out the new world similarly to his current duties with the Dark Hunters, and cover up any traces of his own work.
Code is currently trekking northward towards one of the Great Beings’ last known locations.
Personality
Created as a Toa, and given the operative command to follow Velika’s orders, Code never truly viewed himself with regard towards the Toa Code or serving the Matoran. Code was instead focused on self-preservation, which resulted in him being very reclusive with others. Despite this, during his time as leader of his Toa Hagah team, he would find some pride and respect for his group, even taking a risk of his own to save them from Azdon’s plan to eradicate them. Though, this was in accordance to the plan to join the Dark Hunters, so it was more of a pleasant coincidence to him.
Abilities
As a Toa of sonics, Code has the ability to create, control, and absorb sound energy. As the first Toa of sound, he has had millennia to master his element, and is greatly skilled with masking his presence, which is also assisted by his mental shielding he learned by Velika’s training.
Before becoming a Hagah, Code wielded a staff which he used to channel and control his element as well as for melee combat. Upon being granted the position of Toa Hagah, he obtained a uniquely powered spear and Rhotuka shield.
His Screech Spear had the ability to emit an incredibly painful sound when scraped across a solid surface, with prolonged exposure possibly leading to hearing loss, and overstimulation resulting in the victim losing consciousness.
His confusion Rhotuka likewise could leave his opponents completely directionless without the ability to think or act with any sort of purpose.
Code wore the Kanohi Koa, the mask of allusion. This mask allowed him to encode a large amount of information in few words, written or spoken, referencing a shared experience with an intended target. Only his target could decipher the message, though this also depended on the target’s own ability to recall the event referenced.
