Toa Dume, Toa of Fire

Here’s my vision of the former ruler of Metru Nui as a Toa of Fire. As Toa Norik started out as a potential Toa Dume, I tried to keep certain elements of that design in mind, such as the arm and leg limbs, as well as his chest armor. I got a bit creative with the thigh and shoulder builds however, and I’m very satisfied in particular how his arms turned out. I gave him a hammer, as I feel it’s a Toa Tool we don’t see very often. I also gave it translucent blue parts, to mimic his badge of office. I also like to think that his hammer burns so hot, the heat it generates is blue!

I hope you like it, and feel free to leave any critiques or suggestions. I plan on getting a great Kiril from Shapeways in the future, but left his noble Kanohi in place for now.

I like the idea of him being kind of ripped as a toa.

@Krelikan I actually had similar thoughts. I thought that as he kind of towers over the Turaga of Mata Nui, he’d be a broader and sturdier Toa, too. Plus, you can’t wield a hammer if you look like you can’t even hold it.

Looks pretty nice! I also like the hammer and the thigh designs!

Where are the mata red Vahki legs and metru legs from?

@The_Blue_Panda Thanks a lot! The Vahki legs are from 2009’s Ackar, and the Metru legs are from Hero Factory’s Xplode. Glad you like it.

Brilliant, well done! I may just have to make a copy myself

Looks great, though I do wonder where the trend of giving Dume a hammer first originated.

@narfoxousman Thank you! Let me know if you need any more breakdown pictures.

@Brickbot99 Thanks a lot! I’m not sure exactly where the popularity of him wielding a hammer came from, but I tried to imagine what his staff as a Turaga might look like scaled up, and a hammer seems like a plausible choice. Of course, I mostly picked it because I thought it just looked cool.

@Enbeanie Thank you! I had fun with it, and I’m glad you like it!

ooh cool
I like how the red and the black mix together, plus the hammer is awesome.

@Rukah Thank you! The hammer seems to be a winner. I think the red and black mix fits him nicely, though I admit I only kept his colors from his Turaga form, so I can’t take 100% credit for this choice.

The build works, modified metru build but doesn’t look bad. The hammer though looks fantastic.

@Alucia Thanks a lot! I felt compelled to use a Metru build as a template, as Dume is said to have had a hand in Lhikan’s transformation into a Toa, but wanted to beef him up more. Glad you dig the hammer!

I always imagined Dume as a sort of Mace Windu type of character. Powerful, stern but fair, a little arrogant and snobbish but with all the power and experience to back it up.

Good MOC! Metru build is waaaaayy overused in Toa MOCs, but you managed to make it look more original, and Dume is one of the few Toa where Metru build actually DOES make sense.

There is no doubt in my mind that Toa Dume is in the currently confidential second character list for canon contest, so I hope you enter!

@ToaKebaka

That’s a great analogy for his character! I really wanted him to look and feel powerful. You can’t be appointed head of the most important city in the universe if you haven’t proven yourself as both wise and powerful.

I appreciate the compliments! Overused or not, the Metru build just fits a Toa in my mind, but I did try to differentiate it from the normal builds somewhat. If he is indeed part of a contest, I’ll be sure to submit him!

Very nice, I like the sturdy frame and the color balancing. The hammer is neat.

…The only problem with Dume being a buff Toa is that I can’t unsee him being reduced to just the front of his torso when transforming to a Turaga… :stuck_out_tongue:

@MooCowsRock Haha, I guess! You might be able to look at it more of him wearing an exo suit or something…
