Y’know, I don’t mind all these metallic colors, but I’ve always pictured the Toa Hagah either being silver, gold or gunmetal. They’re what we typically see in BIONICLE, and thus easier to replicate moc-wise.
Question: Are the Hagah spearheads the same length? Norik’s looks a little longer to me. Also, are the spear shafts the same length?
There are multiple shades of copper. Maybe I should’ve used that one instead.
No, Norik’s is slightly longer.
The Aqua Axe is 10 studs long, while the Chronicler’s Staff is 9 studs long. (According to BrickLink)
Yes. Both Norik and Iruini use two 12L axles.
Good to hear. This significantly increases the pool of pieces that I can pick from to make their spears.
Bionicle Next Generation. Been around for a really long time and had plenty of opportunity to soak up any current fan project fame/controversy. Premise is basically Iliad but… Not.
And now I will attempt to respond to one of the longest essays in the topic.
This is because these mocs need to adhere to metru-style as Greg has said, in order for them to be canon.
And so quickly we’re back on this topic. Give me a chance mods please I beg of you
Greg’s statement of Metru-style build does not mean Metru build by the community’s ever-changing definition, and therein lies the reasoning behind the most liked statement by the staff here that I’ve (probably ever) made: We need to define a Toa Hagah, not a Metru build.
This is important because, no matter how many opinions you have and how many people you get to join in on the topic, you will never define a Metru build. Too many people simply have different opinions on the topic to reach a ‘compromise’; in the example image you showed, the Metru Skeleton featured Vakama’s shoulder and thigh pieces along with thigh armor. Does that mean a Metru build is the torso, shoulder pieces, thigh piece, and thigh armor? Or is it only torso piece, thigh piece, and thigh armor? Does the thigh armor matter? Does the shoulder piece matter? If the torso doesn’t have its cover, is it really a Metru build? This torso is missing the gearbox and so isn’t a Metru build. Or is that even a factor at all?
It’s impossible. There is no middle ground because one part too few or one part too many and you’re treading egregiously on canon based on words Greg never said. It’s equally reasonable to interpret his words as ‘Metru-ish’ or ‘comparable to the Metru’ and, given that Kini has dissolved his entire occipital lobe reading the words Metru Build followed by such flagrant disrespect and violent nitpicking, it’d be wise to look for a definition of the Hagah outside of Mettur Build.
So what is a Toa Hagah, @everyone? Use words that aren’t ‘Torso’, ‘Metru’, or ‘Thunderthighs’.
My two cents on the armor color is that whatever someone chooses, be consistent. What I’m specifically referring to is their Rahaga forms. Rahaga Iruini has a gold Rhotuka spinner, and Toa Hagah Iruini has gold armor. It’s not a huge leap to suggest that since Rahaga Gaaki has a silver Rhotuka spinner, she should have silver armor as a Toa Hagah. The rest of the Rahaga/Toa Hagah do not have metallic spinners, instead matching their primary colors, so they’re left ambiguous (except for perhaps Bomonga, who came with different colors of Rhotuka, silver and dark grey, and is also shown in the box art to have a black Rhotuka).
I would love all of the Hagah to have individual armor colors, and I personally like how both versions of Gaaki that @Atobe_Brick posted look, but it just doesn’t seem possible. Likely, it will either be 2/2/2 or 3/3 (depending again on Bomonga).
So what is a Toa Hagah, @everyone?
spear, metalic armor, rhotuka shield, and rahaga colors.
Likely, it will either be 2/2/2 or 3/3 (depending again on Bomonga).
This is going to be controversial, but if/when I enter the contest, I’m probably not going to focus on metallic armor consistency.
Currently my plan is
Norik: silver
Iruini: gold
Gaaki: Copper or Green
Kualus: Metallic Blue
Poks: Silver
Bomonga: Copper
If there has to be consistency, I think the best option would be
Norik: Silver
Pouks: Silver
Gaaki: Gunmetal
Kualus: Gunmetal
Iruini: Gold
Bomonga Gold
rahaga colors.
Of course I don’t want we obsessed with rahaga color.
Some people say that while maintaining rahaga color, upper arms and thighs should be used in same shape socket parts.

It is impossible.

this part’s black color is not exist in the world.
i think we need to be tolerant of second color.
Ooooh the Lewa-Lid Green works perfectly, that extra silver coloration did the trick, really like how it turned out! The copper looks really nice there as well. Originally wasn’t a fan of the copper from when I was trying it, but the color match there looks way nicer than studio’s render did.
Currently my plan is
Norik: silver
Iruini: gold
Gaaki: Copper or Green
Kualus: Metallic Blue
Poks: Silver
Bomonga: Copper
Yeah, all of those seem pretty reasonable, and the blue from what I’ve tested does look good on the white. Also was thinking Copper Bomonga as well lol.

Paint/Stud.io
i think we need to be tolerant of second color.
I’d tolerate it, but I wouldn’t like it.
EDIT: I wouldn’t necessarily be a deal breaker if Bomonga has grey limbs instead of black, since black upper leg/arm pieces don’t naturally exist.
Paint/Stud.io
No one wants to be forced to paint their parts or use studio, though.
Forgive the rather crude sketches but I made my own version of Bomonga, both using a mask and chest piece made by Galva. I chose the the kadin specifically because it would honor Toa Jovan. I thought gold was pretty cool but I tried experimenting with red suggested earlier. Let me know your thoughts.
Speaking of the second color, reminded me.
Norik and Iruini have black second color.
What about Bomonga? Should it be black?
I’m always a sucker for how great black and gold looks
Looks good! Not sure how much I like the red and black combo, but the design and the gold and black look great. Also nice touch with the mask honoring Jovan, using past Toa like Jovan to determine masks based on what we know fits perfectly.
