Toa Naho, The Archer Mangai

" Then everything went wrong. The Toa of Watermanaged to slip through the Dark Hunter lines and swim the ocean. At the first island she came to, she dragged herself to the Turaga and begged for help for Metru Nui. "
— Narrator, Legacy of Evil

I must admit that building the Naho has been quite fun, and I ended up building 3 different versions. Both please me, and that’s why I decided to publish them all!

Toa Naho, The Mangai Archer

This is version 3.0 of my, let’s call it “standard” or Metru, built.

Basically I tried to homogenize her coloring with the blue tones, removing the black coloring of the armor.

And to give her a special touch, I added a new scarf to the set.

Toa Naho, The Rogue Mangai

The appearance of this Naho was inspired by the art of @bioniclechicken.

About this Naho, the idea is that she had the following characteristics: stealthy, agile, fugitive, vigilant and a bit violent.

I thought of it set in 3 situations but I couldn’t decide which one it would be.

These garments could have been used during the Toa-DarkHunters war so that she could perform her missions in a much more sneaky and stealthy way, such as, for example, getting out of Metru Nui without being noticed and being able to summon all Toa reinforcements.

Another scenario, she could be an outcast or vigilante of Tuyet’s reign.

The last scenario was inspired by @bioniclechicken lore. Naho survived the ambush of the DarkHunters hired by Dume (Teridax) and since then has been acting silently in the Matoran Universe, being able to act as a spy for the Order of Mata Nui.

I like the last scenario because it allows you to imagine that Naho is still alive. After all, her whereabouts are unknown, so she’s not necessarily dead.

Toa Naho, The Aqua Raider Mangai

The overall design of this Naho was meant to recall various details from the Aqua Raiders theme sets. I tried to balance the amount of yellow with blue, so that blue still remains the predominant color while she’s in her normal poses. But I also planned for her to take on a “scuba” form reminiscent of the submarine set from set 7774.

I also wanted to bring references to Aqua Riders divers. The DVP devices, appearance of the Naho mask, and chest-mounted tubes resemble a diver’s breathing apparatus.

Lastly, we have the crossbow, which is my best LEGO mechanism creation so far. Initially, I wanted to keep the idea of a bow and arrow for her, but I realized it wouldn’t fit the theme. So, I took what I learned from practicing with other sets and built this “harpoon launcher” as it fits much better with the theme itself and is functional.

POLL
To finish this giant post, I wanted to do a poll to find out which version is preferred.

All of these designs are so sick and stand well on their own but the Aqua Raider version has to be my favorite.

I love this so much. Each design is really good, with coherent armor designs and coloring.

Yeah the other designs are nice but you can’t compete with Aqua Raiders man

Ah these three Naho mocs are really cool! The Aqua Raiders version is definitely my favorite because of the slick build and color scheme but the regular Metru version is a close second; the medium blue looks great. Rogue is nice as well, awesome job on these!
