“Ha! I told you guys!” Darksting said as Maximus went out toward the predacon.
Angel first examines everything he could of the book itself and carefully and meticulously begins trying to transmute a small blank duplicate from the raw materials around him.
Using scraps of more heavily damaged books, a smaller replica would be a breeze to create.
Backbreaker and Hemorrhage get ready to move out- which was easy for them, since most of what they had was in some way attached to their bodies already. Meanwhile, Tripwire uses this bit of downtime to fashion himself some rudimentary explosives for his shoulder-launcher, using bits of odd tech from his backpack. Limited as he was, currently, he couldn’t make anything truly exciting- each bomb he made was just a small power cell inside a scrap metal casing, volatile enough to explode in a spray of fire and shrapnel on impact if shot out of his launcher.
Darksting grabbed his bag and moved to where the others were.
Once the duplicate was made, Angel began working on the writing.
“Maybe…” Railgun says, but can only look upon the desert for a second or two. Maximus flying off didn’t help with that.
“Oh sure, this death zone is just a nice zen garden.” Coverfire whispers to Sheller.
“…That could work? Reclaim creation from destruction.” Sheller says back, considering it.
Coverfire mumbles something about opening his dumb mouth.
Timberjack gives Axis a, “good luck,” and goes outside to wait for the rest. Though while waiting, he tries to notice if the flyer (Skydance) ever made it back with the group. He didn’t recall her being in the fight.
I really need to get acquainted with the others, I only know a few from deliveries.
This step would be a little trickier, but not too bad. The sand could be easily transmuted into ink, and the faint indentations in the paper from when it was scribed so long ago would give a basic path for Angel to fill in. It would still take a significant level of attention and skill, but nothing Angel would be unable to handle.
Nebula put a hand on the commander’s shoulder, and looked him dead in the eye.
“Railgun, with Primus as my witness, I will teach you how to relax. Even if it kills me.”
She said in a playfully serious tone.
After a surprisingly short time, Maximus could be seen flying back to the group. He gracefully landed in front of the group, looking rather pleased.
“Good news. Seems that predacon was headed to a large camp sight east of here. Looks like a nice place to spend our next night. And it should be less than a day’s walk.”
Darksting replied,
“That sounds good. As long as nothing tries to kill us.”
Angel carefully and meticulously recreated the writing using these creases as roadmaps and transmuting the sand into ink.
“Yeah; do we know if they’re gonna be friendly to a bunch of strangers rolling into their camp?” Backbreaker asks.
Once the process was completed, Axis picked up the new copy. She quickly flicked through the pages to make sure everything looked right. When she closed the book she was absolutely beaming.
“This is perfect! Thank you.”
“It’s either that, or trying to settle down in the open wastes tonight. I’d say it’s at least worth going there and checking it out.”
Maximus suggested.
“I’d rather not get attacked by more of those raptor things, especially at night.” Darksting said.
“Well, when you put it like that, there’s no reason not to give it a shot,” Backbreaker concedes. Then, with a wry grin he quips, “Or we hole up in another temple, revive another Ancient, and fight a giant police bot for breakfast again.”
Angel smiles, “This should help you with your new abilities.” He says.
Railgun’s head turns slightly towards the hand on his should before meeting Nebula’s gaze back. Though when she says that last phrase, for a moment, Nebula sees his optics go lifeless. A look not seen since their alone chat back in prison.
“Not at expense of your life. Please,” Railgun answers, that please having some sorrow. “I’ll try my best.”
The thought distracted Railgun enough that he missed Maximus’s new announcement.
Coverfire unnecessarily reloads his turrets.
“By Primus I’d do it again! I need to work on my highscore, I’m behind as is!” He exclaims.
Although unable to understand the Mini-Con, Timberjack adds, “We can offer trade, that usually smooth things over.”
Seeing as how no one paid him any heed, Direwolf shrugged and took his book back from Angel.
OOC: Wait, you were serious about giving Angel a book earlier?
IC: Angel sees Direwolf approaching and tilts his head curiously.
“Woah, easy. It was just a joke.”
Nebula said, surprised by his drastic reaction.
“I’ll be careful. I promise.”
“Definitely. I can’t wait to try out some real spells!”
Axis said eagerly as she came down off the table. She then left the temple to join the others.
Seeing everyone grouped back up, Maximus called out.
“Alright team! Let’s get moving. The sooner we reach this camp the better.”
He then headed out, expecting the others to follow.
“Aw yeah!” Darksting shouts, then transforms into his scorpion mode and skitters after Maximus.
