Transformers: Dawn of a New Age

“It was worth a shot. Besides, I got to see another part of Cybertron and learned some things. All’s good, nothing wasted.” Tokamak said with a shrug. Seeing the day was reaching its final lap, it looked like he would be spending another night on Cybertron.

“Hopefully the authorities caught the last of them and this was it. Suppose this is where we take different streets. Good luck with your new arm and try to not get it drunk.”

“Was he the one that taught you cold construction?” Roaster asked, though she had some distain when using the descriptor of ‘cold’ for the art.

As Kitai flies past the city limits, he can see a grey vehicle driving through the hills beneath him. It seems that both he and the truck are headed for Kaon.

The Grand Museum did not have a dedicated medical facility- only emergency kits mounted on walls and columns for accidents. However, the building’s guards have contacted the city’s medical services, and a better-equipped response team is likely soon to arrive.

Headbite blinked, “Oh, that’s very nice, nice of you…” she exclaimed glancing about and fiddling with her hands as she did so.

Snowblind slinks through the streets of Iacon, keeping a careful eye over her shoulder as she goes. She had managed to extract herself from the battle quietly, but there was still a chance that someone had picked up on her identity. Better safe than sorry.

That was also the reason she found herself at the far edge of town, approaching what was, as far as she could tell, the least-used port in the city. She needed to use the comm tower, and she preferred keeping it to herself.

She heads inside, keeping any interactions brief as she gets herself set up. Soon she has a line open to Clemency on a secure frequency, hoping someone will pick up.

“Ahaha.” Conjoint deadpanned. “Good luck in your investigation.”

He slowly wheeled off in the general direction of Iacon once more, hoping to finally have some uninterrupted time to work on his arm. At least now, nothing inconceivable can show up out of nowhere to harass me.

…but then it wouldn’t be inconceivable, because I could foresee any unforseeable circumstances, which would by definition make them not unforeseeable. Because I could foresee them.

Conjoint, shut up and work on your stupid arm. Nothing’s gonna happen.

It takes a moment for Snowblind to establish a secure connection- no doubt it was lengthened, as well, by all the verification measures that the man on the other end took to make sure that this frequency hasn’t been compromised.

“Hey, if it isn’t my favorite snowmobile!” Hotfoot exclaims, sounding skittish as always. “How’s Cybertron treating you? Weather’s certainly better, I imagine.”

Snowblind smiles, relaxing at the sound of a familiar voice. “Hey, nice to see you, too. Cybertron is… weird?” She screws up her face and shrugs, forgetting for a moment that Hotfoot can’t see either gesture. “I didn’t realize how different everything would be without the snow. Don’t know if I like it. Doesn’t help that I got here in the middle of the slaggin’ festival; way too many people. The trees make up for it, though.” She clears her throat. “I, uh, don’t suppose you’ve checked the news in the last few hours?”

“Yeah, I have,” Hotfoot confirms. “All I do is check the news, most days. Kinda my thing. Funny thing, though- that looked like you fighting the big guy with the chainsaw arm. But, y’know, you can’t believe everything you see on the datanet, right?”

He chuckles softly for a moment, then he says, “…wait, was that you, actually?”

“Yeah, I mean-”

“-amazing what people put on the datanet these days, heheh…” she finishes weakly. “Slag I thought I stayed out of the spotlight.

“Ah, don’t worry. The cameras didn’t get a real good look at you,” Hotfoot assures her. “And I can call in a favor, make 'em harder to find. But still, good for you, going in there and helping the helpless, and all that.”

“If it isn’t too much trouble? Don’t go getting yourself caught because you stuck your neck out for me, okay?” She leans back, staring up at the ceiling and wondering briefly how she had managed to get herself into so much trouble–such high profile trouble–on her first day on Cybertron.

“…thanks. Actually, uh, had something else I wanted to ask about. Another favor, if that’s alright?”

“No, he wasn’t. He’s not from Hecate. In fact, I’m not exactly sure where he did come from. I just sort of… found him one day while exploring a Cybertronian canyon.” Aralysa recalls, shrugging her metallic shoulders at the last part. “Stonefist’s always been closed off about his past.”

“Aha! Help is on the way.” Stonefist muttered to himself. With that, the rocky bot started lumbering back towards the place where Aralysa and Roaster were busy with Headbite.

I must knowHe insisted, still firm, but his battlemask retracted. His face without the mask was eyeless, even lacking the single eye of those punished by Empurata. Simply a smooth faceplate with a toothed jaw and three pairs of small glowing green markings.

“Well rocks aren’t known for chatting,” Roaster joked.

As they were waiting for medical personnel to come, Roaster decided now would be a good time to make Headbite the treat. She pulls out a couple items from her backpack, squirting strange energon containers into a bowl and stirs her arm with speeds to make a mixer jealous. Once finely mixed, she pours it into a series of molds and transforms, putting in the mold trays while doing so. After a couple minutes, a timer goes off and Roaster returns, holding out the hot trays. With a violent shakedown, they’re cooled and the treats patted out.

Finishing it off with a flourishing glaze, Roaster presents Headbite a small bag’s worth of frosted mechanimal crackers. They were in the shape of popular critters, like the cryo-condors and jaguars.

“As promised, here’s something sweet - copper flavored even!” Roaster says to Headbite with smile wide enough that she has to close her eyes for it to fit.

Aralysa laughed at that.
“That’s true. But even though he’s a grump most of the time, he’s still a good bot at spark.”
The Hecatan transformer then glanced across the room, hoping that Stonefist would come back.

“Woah, that was fast.” Aralysa commented. She was about to say more when a certain gray-armored Cybertronian came barreling in.
“Don’t worry, help is on the way!” Stonefist said, studying the room as he said it.
“Hmmm. Doesn’t look too good.” he commented, looking at the Insecticon.

“As far as I’m concerned, I still owe you a couple more favors for getting me out of the Trakkons,” Hotfoot says. “Whaddya need?”

It was around now that Maximus decided to check in on Nova. And what he saw was rather concerning.

The human girl had changed her outfit since the last time he saw her. Rather than her pilot suit, she had changed into more casual clothing. She was wearing a dark t-■■■■■ with a graphic of a golden drill on the front, along with a dark green coat on top. As well as simple blue jeans and mildly worn out tennis shows.

What was more concerning was her face. Her cheeks were a noticeable shade of red, and tear stains trailed down from her eyes. All upon a dour and sulking expression. She was still standing on Gungnir’s shoulder, almost finished with her work.

Being unfamiliar with humans, Maximus wasn’t entirely sure what the changes in her face meant. But he could guess it wasn’t anything good.
“Hey… everything alright?”
He asked as he stepped into the room.

“I’m fine.”
She said bluntly. Not even bothering to look in his direction.

“You sure? You don’t really-”

“I said I’m fine.”
She repeated sternly.

“Okay, okay. I won’t push it.”
Maximus said calmly.
“But maybe it would be a good idea to take a break? Today’s been pretty stressful for everyone. It might be a good idea to just take some time to relax.”

Nova sighed and put her tools down.
“Yeah, I guess taking a break wouldn’t hurt. Anything you have in mind?”

“Well, what do you usually do to relax?”

Nova thought for a moment.
“I mean, I really like to draw. But I haven’t exactly seen anything all too inspiring while I’ve been here.”

Maximus snapped his fingers. A spark of electricity jolted between his index finger and thumb as he did so.
“I got it! Why not go to the grand museum? There’s plenty of cool stuff in there that would be great for inspiration.”

Nova perked up a bit, actually intrigued by the idea.
“Alright. Sounds good to me. Just give me a minute to get my sketchbook.”

She climbed down on to Gungnir’s large backpack, opened a hatch, and dropped in. A couple minutes later a back door opened and she jumped out on to the desk. Now wearing a backpack of her own.

“Alright. I don’t want to take Gungnir out since she’s not fully fixed up yet. So I hope you don’t mind carrying me.”

Maximus smiled.
“No problem.”

Maximus and Nova walked out of the Primal Basilica. As this was the first time Nova was out in Iacon without her mech, she quickly felt especially small.

“So uh, how long is the walk? Is it far?”
She asked.

“Walk? Who said anything about walking?”
Maximus said with a cheeky grin. He transformed into his beast mode and stretched his wings out, raising them into the air.
“When you’re hanging out with me, you’re not walking anywhere. You my friend will ride in style.”
He lowered one wing so that Nova could climb on to his back.

“Are you sure this is a good idea?”
Nova asked as she hesitantly climbed on.

“Of course! I give my friends rides all the time. Though you’re probably the smallest passenger I’ve had. So you’ll want to hold on tight.”

Nova got into a solid position on the predacon’s back and took hold with both hands. Maximus spread out his wings as she did so.
“Alright. Just make sure you’ll be caREFUUUL!”

Maximus bolted up into the air as Nova desperately clung to his back.
“This isn’t careful! This is the exact opposite of careful!”
Nova tried to shout, but her voice was drowned out by the winds rushing past her. Even as Maximus leveled out she struggled to hold on.

Nova tightened her grip as much as she could with one hand, while she clutched her rune pendant in the other.
“Listen to me noble god of thunder. If you can hear me, please bless this rune that I have been gifted with your strength. Let this symbol of divine protection guide me to a gentle landing and keep me SAAAAAFE!”

She screamed as her grip failed, falling off Maximus’ back. The predacon felt her slip and turned back.

“Nova!”
Maximus shouted as he watched her fall. Wasting no time he went into a nose dive to reach her.

Nova plummeted down towards Iacon. With the rushing wind roaring in her ears, she closed her eyes and desperately held on to her pendant.
“Thor, Odin, Freya, please! I’ll take anyone! I’ll even take Loki if he’s listening! Please just let me live!”

“Don’t worry kid! I got you!”
Maximus shouted as he raced towards the falling girl.

Nova hesitantly opened her eyes and screamed in terror as an open set of metallic jaws rushed straight for her. The next moment she was closed in a dark space. She could feel teeth against her back and a segmented metal tongue beneath her.

Maximus flew down to the ground, close to the front of the Grand Museum. He gently landed on the ground. Ever so carefully he laid his head down and opened his mouth. Nova clumsily stumbled out, barely able to stay on her feet. She felt weak, like all her limbs were made of spaghetti. And her face was a sickly green.

“Oh god… I thought I was gonna die.”
She said. Nova stumbled back and leaned against Maximus’ head to support herself.

“I’m really sorry kid. Are you alright?”
Maximus asked her.

“Yeah… yeah I think I’m alright. I just hlaaaaa
Nova stopped short as she threw up on the ground.
“Okay… now I’m alright.”

She looked Maximus in the eye with an annoyed expression.
“Two things. First, next time we go anywhere, we walk. I am never doing that again.”

“Yeah, that’s fair. Sorry.”
Maximus replied.

“Second… did you really need to put me in your mouth?”

“I was afraid I was gonna hurt you if I tried to grab you with my claws.”

Nova wiped her mouth with the sleeve of her jacket.
“I guess that makes sense… I swear this museum better be worth it.”

Maximus transformed into his robot mode and gently picked up Nova in his hands. He then placed her on his shoulder, and she leaned against his head. Maximus then walked into the museum, heading for the exhibits on the original 13 primes.

@Chromeharpoon

“While your concern is appreciated, I assure you it’s perfectly safe. More than that, it’s already far from here. Nothing that can be done now.”
Axis replied.

Headbite could barely form a sentence as she watched everything get put together. All of the movement, color, and the whole process stunned her as she watched in awe. Her head quirked to the side as she saw her new friend transform into a little box. She’d never seen someone make “treats.” Treats were always Energon scraps, maybe Energon goodies, typically dead body scraps…nothing like this.

The Inseciticon very gently took the bag in stupified awe, “Thank you, you,” she exclaimed as she sat cross-legged on the floor and picked one up curiously as she sniffed it and then naturally, bit off the little condor’s head and chewed it up happily with a gleeful chitter as she slowly began to eat the copper treats, systematically and taking an incredibly long time to eat each one. Seemed, the Insecticon was having a very good day all of a sudden.

When Maximus and Nova arrive at the Grand Museum, it is at the same time as a medical transport from a nearby hospital. Its sirens blare as two EMTs jump out and run through the museum’s main entrance.

Aralysa smiled at Roaster.
“Headbite certainly seems much happier now.” the Hecatan transformer observes. “Those treats appear to have done the trick.” She pats the Insecticon on her shoulder.
“Don’t worry, you’ll be all better soon.” As Aralysa said this,

she could suddenly hear the sound of sirens. “Do you hear that?” the purple and blue-armored bot continues, “it sounds like-”
“Sirens.” Stonefist finishes. The rocky Cybertronian cracks a triumphant grin. “I told you there was help on the way.”
