So, I’m just want to start off with saying that I’m really proud of this. Anyways, on with the MoC.
So, this actually started out as a Megatron, but it wasn’t working out, so I took it all apart and started brainstorming as to what I could build instead. Then, I glanced at my shelf and saw Animated Lockdown, and I was like yes. So, let’s start off with vehicle mode.
I really went for an asymmetrical design, I actually think this turned out really well. A lot of the transformation is my own design. I tried to put in a windshield (you can see the two trans red cheese slopes), but it didn’t really work out very well. Also, keeping in true transformers fashion, the weapons can be stored on the vehicle mode in a tacked on attack mode. Anyways, on to the robot mode.
While I really like his vehicle mode, the robot mode is where he really shines. I mainly based him off his Animated version, but he’s also based off the Revenge of the Fallen Lockdown. Like, I put the EMP generator on the regular arm instead of the hook arm. However, I gave him the coattails and the shoulder pads like in Animated. I used Kulta’s mask because I thought it actually looked good, and I was lazy. I couldn’t actually put the wheels on the thighs, so I was able to put them on the back, and they actually fit really well. Also, much like the vehicle mode, there’s an Attack mode. The hook straightens out into a kind of sword, you can attach the EMP generator, and the back piece that become the engine in vehicle mode can reach over the shoulder. I didn’t really do this on purpose, but it exists.
This looks amazing. Absolutely amazing. The car mode looks solid and we’ll built, and clearly evokes animated Lockdown’s vehicle mode. The robot mode is just as good. The hook was done well, and I can’t think of many other masks that would have been a better fit for this character. Though I do have a few criticisms.
The neck sticks out too far, the legs are a tad too long, and the torso plate needs some sort of add on, like the piece on the 2015 toa chests, only in black or gunmetal. As is, it’s way too bare.
Edit: I just noticed the E.M.P generator on his arm, which only adds to this moc’s supreme awesomeness.
(Yeah, now that I look at it, you pointed it out in the topic post, but I look at the picture first, and then comment. I usually read the topic text afterward)
Thanks, man! Yeah, I would’ve probably used a chest add-on, but I don’t have one in plain black, and I didn’t think gunmetal would’ve worked with the colour scheme. Anyways, thanks again!
Upon further inspection, I realized if you made the robot mode cleaner you wouldn’t be able to make the vehicle mode look good, so I guess you can’t really fix that. What I mean by gappy is that the neck juts out a little too much, and the axles are a little bare. Also the knees are lacking.
I think the biggest gripe I have is the shortness of the body compared to everything else. Maybe try to shorten the legs and give him a bendable pelvis to make up for the lost length.
