“Done,” Backbreaker says with a wry smirk.
“W-well… no, but there was so much leaking out, I don’t think he cough would have survived. Also, you don’t need to be so cautious, I got over this a cough long time ago. I’m not gonna break”
“Only if you…” Railgun stops, swiftly realizing that he’ll get nowhere in arguing. “…Fine, try it your way. If you need help, we won’t be far.”
“Good.”
Razorclaw said as she started walking off.
“And I’ll rip your head off if you tell Maximus about any of this.”
She said over her shoulder.
“In my experience, you can never write off someone’s death without a body. Stranger survivals have happened in war time.”
“Alright. Sounds like a plan.”
Maximus said as he got up.
“You wanna come with Axis?”
He asked.
“Think I’ll pass.”
She replied.
“It all sounds just a bit too far fetched if you ask me.”
“You wouldn’t be the first to try!” Backbreaker hollers after her with a laugh.
“Why would the Vex leave him behind? If he wasn’t dead, wouldn’t they take him?”
Railgun looks to see if Axis’s word cause any doubt in Maximus. If it does, he’ll say something. Though if not, he’ll just follow Maximus and wait outside the training room.
“That is a fair question.”
Railfire admitted.
“Like I said, his being alive is only a possibility.”
Maximus shrugged.
“Even if it is nothing, worst case scenario is I waste some time. I’ll be back in a bit.”
He said as he walked out of the cell
“Alright then.”
Axis replied.
Maximus walked down to the training arena, and paused at the door.
“So, its the console right? That’s our guy?”
He asked quietly.
“Yeah whatever.”
She replied as she walked off.
If not for it being a waste of time, Railgun almost would have rolled his optics. He gives a nod in response.
Maximus nodded and walked in.
He looked around the large empty room. It was strange to think that in all the time he had spent in here, there was someone hiding right in plane sight.
“Hope I don’t get in trouble for this.”
He said quietly to himself. Maximus charged up a great deal of electrical power and clapped his hands together close to his chest. Bolts of lightning shot off from across his body, striking all of the hard light projectors in the room. Each one was completely destroyed.
He then took a battle ready stance facing the console, focusing what power he had left into his arms.
Nothing happens.
Seconds pass and still nothing happens.
Depending on how long he remains in his battle stance, nothing happens.
The console remains unresponsive.
The predacon’s optics narrow in suspicion. Cautiously he walks forward, charging up electricity into one of his legs. Once he gets close enough he swings a powerful kick into the side of the machine, which should cause a significant amount of damage.
The poor terminal not only crumples from the force, but is ripped out and bashes into the wall. It sparks and gives a the sound of a PC’s fans dying, but doesn’t transform. Based on how it breaks, it most certainly was not a person.
Maximus stood down, his shoulders slumped in disappointment.
“Aw man. I just wrecked this place for nothing.”
He walked out of the training arena, looking down at the minicons.
“So, how did it go?”
Nebula asked.
“A whole lotta nothing.”
Maximus said, clearly disappointed.
“Are you sure you saw what you did? I mean, I don’t wanna call you liars, but I also know a bot when I see one. And that was no bot.”
Before Maximus leaves, what sounds like organs starts playing. The room fills with quiet and higher pitched laughter, seemingly from all directions. The laughter was not one he recognized, nor was the voice that followed. It certainly wasn’t like the Rectifier sim.
“Wow, that has to be a record. I could continue this game of panther and cybermouse, but it has been a long time since I’ve had some proper fun.”
A figure suddenly appears, seemingly coming out of the wall. It may not be true invisibility, but got to love holographic mirages and form changing. Much like the voice, Maximus wouldn’t recognize the odd camouflage colored figure.
“So come on descendant of Railfire, at least try to make it seem convincing.”
Maximus quickly spun around and fired a bolt of lightning out of each hand at his strange adversary. Moving with reflexes that impressed even himself for a moment. Looked like his training with the old doc bot had really been paying off.
Anticipating at least some attack, though not quite this fast, quickly puts up a hardlight replica of Railfire. The Railfire replica looks horrified as the blast rips through it and causes it to fall apart. Maximus’s new combatant leaps off to the left, just barely avoiding the lightning blast thanks to it being slowed down by the Railfire projection.
“No respect for Elders,” he mocks as his Neutron Assault Rifle forms in his right hand.
He pulls the trigger and starts unleashing the rifle’s fury in Maximus’s general direction. A new holomatter projection of Steeljaw starts to appear next to him.
OOC: Apologies college happened.
Maximus looked shocked for a moment, but quickly shook his head.
Relax. It’s just a fake.
He thought.
He quickly ran to the side as his opponent fired at him. When the Steeljaw replica appeared, he turned around and swung a kick, sending a bolt of lightning in its direction.
OOC: Don’t worry. I understand.
Meanwhile, Clawshot and Ramjet wandered the halls of the colosseum as they waited for Nebula to finish with whatever she was doing.
In the meantime, they might run into Oddball, soon after he made it back inside.
“I know… I accepted his death a long time ago…”
She took a deep breath, then sighed.
“Do you know what it feels like to be alone? Truly alone? cough To have literally no one to be friends or other such things, even when surrounded by people?”
