The simulation transformed into tank form. The fireballs doing little to the thick armor plating. It charged forward, driving as fast as it could. Attempting to ram Backbreaker head on.
Grunting, Backbreaker rolls to the left, out of the path of the tank.
The tank crashed into the wall, denting it severely. It then transformed into robot form, turned to Backbreaker, and fired off three blasts from its fusion cannon.
While the real deal could kill a bot with a single well aimed shot, the simulation blasts would only briefly paralyze the victim. Disabling limbs in one shot, or the whole body if the chest or head was hit. This “death” signifying the end of the match.
Without his shield, Backbreaker is left to dodge the shots, flattening himself upon the ground to evade them. Once the blasts had safely passed overhead, he transforms to dragon mode and blasts at the Megatron sim with his fire and plasma breath weapons.
It turned and took the brunt of the attack on the back of it’s right shoulder. Once the attack was finished, it reformed its flail and charged at Backbreaker. Spinning it rapidly above it’s head while it ran, before swinging it down on the autobot’s center head.
“Fall before the might of Megatron!”
It shouted. It was clear at this point that the simulation only knew canned prerecorded quotes, and occasionally spat them in vaugly appropriate situations. Rather than being able to generate any dialog of it’s own.
Backbreaker’s center head is hit, the armor cracking as the gladiator roars in pain. The right head shoots up to bite the Megatron sim’s left forearm, while the left goes to bite onto the right.
The simulation retracted its flail and threw its left arm in front of it, so that both the small heads bit it, the teeth sinking in deep. Clearly causing a significant amount of damage.
But this also left its right arm free, and held at point blank range. It aimed it’s fusion cannon at the center head and fired.
Backbreaker doesn’t even have time to roar before the shot knocks him unconscious. His legs give out from under him, and he falls to the floor.
The blast would paralyze him, but keep him conscious. Fully aware and able to see what was happening.
The Megatron simulation shook it’s left arm lightly before looking to it’s opponent. It walked forward, it’s arms down by it’s side. When it stopped, the fusion cannon was aimed down right above Backbreaker’s head. Giving the autobot a perfect view down it’s barrel.
“Such heroic nonsense.”
It said as the connon charged with a purple glow. Just before the cannon fired, the simulation dissolved into flickering hard light particles.
Backbreaker was then free to move. A small drone deployed from the ceiling and quickly began repairing the minor damage on his head. The simulation’s battle statistics were updated.
Victories: 105
Backbreaker groans, holding still to let the drone do its work. At least he could take some small comfort in the fact that no-one was watching him lose a fight to Megatron this time.
As the damage was minimal, the drone only took a couple minutes. As soon as it was done it returned to it’s place in the ceiling above.
Backbreaker transforms to robot mode and dusts himself off. Scowling, he deactivates the hard-light projector and leaves the training room.
The training room systems deactivated and waited for the next user or two.
In the meantime, a match between two Tier 2 fighters was under way. Battling it out as the sun began to set.
Skywarp and Thundercracker were back in the commons, talking the day away over their energon.
Razorclaw was in her cell, tending to her blades. She wasn’t much the type to care about the condition others were in after a fight. But she had to admit she was somewhat concerned about Maximus. She saw the fellow pirate as a good friend, and would hate if she didn’t have a chance to talk to him again.
And as for Axis, she was sleeping on her bed. Though the sleep was far from peaceful. She tossed and turned as her mind was a whirlwind of countless conflicting thoughts and emotions. All of which revolving around her friend.
Backbreaker decides to give this fight a look.
It was a battle between Bulkhead and Steeljaw. Truly two opposites pitted against one another.
One was massive, slow, and durable. Able to hit hard and take just as much.
The other was small and comparatively frail. But he had speed and agility on his side.
Bulkhead formed his wrecking ball hand and aimed it at the decepticon. The dense metal ball fired off with great force, attached by a sturdy metal cable.
Steeljaw easily avoided the attack. In response Bulkhead pulled the wrecking ball back, and began to spin and swing it repeatedly. All the while Steeljaw ran circles around him. The autobot always aiming where the decepticon was, rather than where he would be.
Backbreaker watches the fight from the tribunes in silence, frowning behind his battle mask.
Meanwhile, Oddball dances into the training room, stopping to take note of the crater in the wall that Backbreaker had made.
“Hm.”
The little bot saunters over to the projector, shifting some of his mass into his lower legs so that he could stand tall enough to reach the controls. He opens the preset menu, and, out of curiosity, looks for a preset of… himself.
The same repetitive swing and throw action continued, Steeljaw growing more confident over time. Until eventually something clicked in Bulkhead’s mind, and he tried aiming just ahead of the decepticon.
The wrecking ball hit him dead on, knocking Steeljaw down instantly.
Being one of the prisoners, his profile was indeed there.
Oddball
Skill level: 3
Victories: N/A
Defeats: N/A
It seemed that as unassuming as the little bot was, in addition to his Tier 3 placement, no one ever thought to train against his sim file.
Backbreaker huffs, unimpressed with how Steeljaw went down so easily.
Oddball’s eyes narrow; the little bot was insulted that no-one thought him a worthy sparring partner- and at his simulation’s pitiful difficulty rating.
“Zzzzzt…” he grumbles, looking for a way to edit the preset.
The decepticon struggled to get up, having the wind thoroughly knocked out of him. Bulkhead walked up to Stealiaw.
“Had enough yet?”
The autobot asked. Not in any kind of taunting manner, but as a genuine question.
The decepticon quickly shouts and lashes out with his claws, but due to how much the one hit took out of him, it was ineffective.
Bulkhead stood, generally unimpressed. He retracted his wrecking ball and grabbed Steeljaw by the tail. Lifting him up and throwing him back down.
“How about now?”
He asked again.
“Fine. I give in.”
The decepticon groaned.
The skill level could be increased. The result being a simulation of Oddball more skilled and capable than the real thing.
OOC: @Toa_Vladin are you going to have Wildsong talk to Gronius?
Backbreaker sighs.
Oddball raises the difficulty rating to 4, and activates the simulation.
