Turaga Oharohka

“Do not be afraid, I am merely just a Turaga. I am here to help you young friends. Now, what is it that ails you?” – Turaga Oharohka

Name: Oharohka

Species: Turaga

Element: Magnetism

Gender: Male

Kanohi: Great Manahki

Appearance: Typical of Turaga, Oharohka is a small, slightly hunched over fellow with mostly black, silver, and grey colorings. Wears a burnt orange shawl with grey patterns woven in and has a disk launcher mounted on his left shoulder, typically folded onto his back. His mask has a telescopic eyepiece over the right eye, bearing resemblance to Keetongu’s eye. Often has a little Rahi beetle-spider on one of his shoulders.

Powers and Weapon: As a Turaga of Magnetism, Oharohka has an excellent sense of direction and can magnetize or demagnetize objects with his small elemental power. His shoulder-mounted Kanoka Launcher doubles as a Rhotuka Launcher and draws upon his magnetic powers. The Rhotuka temporarily takes away magnetic properties, causing the target to drop tools, weapons, and even lose their mask. Favoring Weight Increase Kanoka, Oharohka can use his launcher to channel a Rhotuka spinner into the disk or add other magnetic effects to it, such as homing. He can also use the Rhotuka to fly around, and the launcher can move its position, allowing it to fire in multiple directions or stay resting on his back. Also installed in his back is a mask holder, allowing him to carry extra Kanohi/Krana and give them to Matoran who are missing any. This holder can also launch masks, much like the Bohrok Va.

Like other Turaga, he can use Noble Kanohi. Such as his Manahki, which suggests to him what others need. The eyepiece on his mask allows him to see the moral state of beings/creatures (like Keetongu) and zoom up on things far away. Oharohka’s Badge of Office is his transformed Toa Tool (Brakas Catcher, man catcher-type weapon), a staff with a fork spearhead (e.g., sasumata), which can generate a magnetic snare to use as an animal catching pole when desired. He is also known to carry around a modified Matoran Wishing Staff, ones that also work as a fipple/recorder. Oharohka has a perfect recollection of songs and can play almost any tune he’s heard.

On particularly long travels, he employs a Matoran Sphere-like vehicle. It can put him in a temporary stasis until arriving at the desired location and serves as a minor Suva of sorts. Allowing him to store extra wishing staffs, masks, Kanoka, and have them be summoned to him. Usually accompanied by a little beetle-like spider friend called Pitarha, which has a mutating bite. For a short time, Pitarha’s venom causes the victim to suffer extreme burning pain whenever they lie and generally compels them to tell the truth.

Personality: A wandering Turaga, Oharohka calls no Matoran as his own, choosing to be a universal friend and sage to whoever needs him. As such, he is quite friendly and will do what he can to help and ease life for others. Be that playing happy tunes or giving needed direction. He’ll even break his instrument to wish good luck to whoever needs it.

Despite his caring and neighborly demeanor, Oharohka himself is distant from others. Though he’ll answer questions concerning himself, he’ll also try to turn the conversation back on others. A good friend you can rely on to help but don’t know much about is Oharohka in a nutshell. Regardless of what his scope shows him, he tries to not be judgmental and allow others to prove their character to him. Dislikes unfair systems and will seek to have them improved.

Background: Long ago, Oharohka was a Fa-Matoran musician. He made several devices that used magnetism to record and play music until destiny called for him to be a Toa. His hero days must have been impressive, as it gained the attention of the Brotherhood of Makuta, who choose him to serve as a Toa Hagah team leader. Unfortunately, it seemed destiny had other plans and he completed his purpose as Toa only a few years later. To make up for this, he spent his early Turaga years serving the Brotherhood by keeping their Visorak horde in check. Though after it became overwhelmingly evident of the Brotherhood’s evils, he led a large portion of the horde into a death trap and fled. Since then, he has wandered the universe, helping any Matoran or beings he finds.

Just a quick Turaga build I made earlier for a new Bionicle RPC. He’s just a lightly modified Colony Drone build, so nothing much special MOC wise.

But if you find his character potentially fun, then be sure to check out Hardened Jealousy. It is essentially my Bionicle notebook and I’m allowing everyone to use whatever they find inside for whatever Bionicle-related purposes they desire.

This time it’s just the straight Word doc as I got tired of updating the PDF when significant changes were made. However, Google still messes up things in the preview. The table of contents are all clickable and will take you to the exact page if using the downloaded version.

I always love to see Turaga builds; they always get forgotten compared to Matoran and Toa.

Not super powerful, just a guy who goes around helping those in need – truly the hero we needed

@Rukah and @Rhyla416 Thanks! Though I’m surprised the backstory is what stood out. I found it overly simple.

@Cruciferous It is unfortunate, but not many have need of mentor role in their Bionicle stories or games. Or get far along enough for their Toa to become Turaga I suppose. But trust me, in my hands, a Turaga might as well be super powerful. They are underutilized in so many ways.
