Unpopular Opinions about LEGO

They should have released three Gali sets per wave instead of any of the other Toa

Up above???

Is my lack of reading the bionicle books and comics showing :weary:

Wait oh yeah they’re still in the gsr

They got clouds in the MU though right because they have rainstorms

yeah but not in karda nui, which is where the phantoka/mistika split occurs

Where is that pinned down though? Is it a canonical non occurrence or did we just happen to not catch a rainstorm when we were there? Ultimately the canon line up made more sense, Gali can do more with an ocean-sized swamp than she can do with a cloud but if if the domes above are big enough to host weather systems, Karda Bui should definitely fit the bill, being much larger and having plenty of water

In the fact that it’s underground

the domes are also designed to host weather systems, whereas karda nui, if it ever was, had a great amount of its interior destroyed when the mask of life was used the first time. I also doubt it ever had condensed moisture enough to form clouds because the water below was mutagenic to an extreme degree, and any of the plants (lightvines) above would have been destroyed by the rain.

the matoran would have been able to water the plants themselves by collecting water from the massive hole in the ceiling, so I don’t think there’s any evidence rain or clouds actually occurred there, but regardless Gali would definitely have a much easier time (and be much more powerful) down below in the swamp of secrets where water was abundant

Well, “underground” doesn’t necessitate a lack of meteorology. You said yourself, the other domes were designed to host weather systems. If being underground were so absolutely preventative a circumstance, the Great Beings couldn’t have succeeded in a higher dome - the fact that they did shows that a meteorological system can exist underground. It just comes down to having the right collection of variables.

In higher domes, those variables were artificially provided, but any area with sufficient heat, air, water, and space to accommodate a variety of pressure differentials and currents could feasibly experience some form of meteorological activity on their own. Consider the sheer volume of the Karda Nui dome, and this excerpt from BSO1:

“The swamp was surrounded by mist and fog. The water of the swamp was hot, and, in some areas, boiling due to the energies of Karda Nui.”

I agree that Karda Nui was never intended to have a weather system; it never would have, had the energy storms continued. For at least a fraction of the thousand years of slumber, though, this massive space had all the factors necessary to produce at least some semblance of a cloud. The canonical mist and fog are proof enough that the water was evaporating and entering the local atmosphere.

Also this is Bionicle, real world science no, no statements one way or another on this super specific thing, doesn’t actually matter that much, headcanon: cloud

Does the mutagen evaporate with the water? I wonder if Gali, Onua, and Tahu got microdosed floating around in the swamp-fog steam bath

If we are to assume that the boiling water produced steam, which evaporates into the surrounding air, then Karda Nui would easily be capable of producing weather systems on its own.

I sure hope so because my cloud theory hinges desperately upon it

you guys do know that Toa can create/generate their elements, right?

Never once in the history of Bionicle has that happened

That’s not true, that ability of Toa has appeared repeatedly in the story

Rukah’s right, albeit with some nuance

Toa can form their elements as long as the environment allows them to do so, such as fire Toa making a flame as long as the environment allows for combustion - even underwater. As long as the molecular building blocks are there, it can happen.

except for LEWA, who somehow managed to create air out of the vacuum of space that one time in Reign of Shadows because he’s Lewa and he doesn’t care or something

I’ve made a topic for it so we can discuss there as we’re already wildly off topic here.

I’m pretty sure clouds are visible below the Phantoka in the POV shots in the trailer (this is the AI upscaled version from Findogask):

Edit: this could easily be the mists of the swamp but it seems a little high for that to me.

The Ninjago TV show should’ve been more like The Monkie Kid series in terms of visuals at least.

‘Bully’ was the perfect code name for Hakann, it’s exactly the sort of ego-deflating brand that TSO would assign him, both for personal amusement and to keep Hakann’s pride in check

Hakann would absolutely immediately turn around and puff himself up with it tho

I’ve seen this sentiment a lot in Ninjago community and I don’t really get it. Not only do I prefer the redesigns, I think they should update them again. Help show how the Ninja have changed and grown over time.

I didn’t grow up with the series and checked it out between Tournament of Elements and Possession. So a lot of my opinions are out of sync with the wider fandom. What’s considered nostalgic and iconic isn’t the same for me.

It’s sort of like BIONICLE fans who joined late in it’s run not holding the Mata Nui era with the same level of reverence as the older fans.

Agreed. I’m not sure if this will remain unpopular for long, since this demographic will be growing over time.
