Unpopular Opinions about Movies (and Television Shows)

Agreed. It’s worse when it’s due to the franchise changing hands and the new owner thinking they knew what the prior owner wanted from it (see Rings of Power, Halo 4-Infinite, everything post Endgame bar Shang-Chi and Ant-Man [and Spider-Man to a degree], and most Star Wars stuff in the past decade).

Another unpopular opinion of mine:

The Simpsons didn’t stop being funny and didn’t get really bad until Season 19ish. Also:

King Of The Hill > The Simpsons > Family Guy > South Park

That being said, Season 4 of The Simpsons is still not just the best adult animated TV Season ever…but the best season of any TV Show ever.

Indeed.
To hear the individuals featured in Star War’s Episode III commentary, their longing sighs and bittersweet goodbyes.

Funny. But sad.

True. So very true. Love how much heart KOTH has. I genuinely love all the characters as people (except maybe for Peggy).

Yeah, hard disagree on this one. I definitely like the vibe and aesthetic of Reeves’ Batman more than Nolan’s, but the plot (especially with what feels like a movie ruining fourth act) was just such a fumble that I can’t put it up there with Nolan’s.

I guess my hottest Batman take would be that Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is the best Batman movie, animated or otherwise. 70 minutes of tight, gripping, nonlinear bliss. Great villains, twisty (but fair) plot, a pretty great romance, and excellent visuals/score.

I’m not sure what you mean exactly by the ruined fourth act.
Do you mean, that Batman didn’t figure out the master plan of the Riddler in time? (To flood Gothem by planting explosives under the sea wall.)
Well, if that’s the case, then I would make two arguments against it:

1.) Unlike most adaptations or iterations, Pettinson’s Batman (Battinson) is still in their grief state, he is still very early on in His masked-vigilante career. He even mentions at the beginning, in that narrating monologue that He’s been only Batman for two years.
He still lacks experience with foes such as the Riddler, thus He has underestimated him.

2.) From the point of view of his character and motivation (which the film had built its message around.), he still needed to fail to transform from a masked crime-fighter pursuing revenge to a beacon (no pun intended) of hope in the total darkness.
He had to face the consequences of his actions by losing to realize that he was on the wrong path.
He unwillingly inspired the Riddler and his cult and had to make that realization to change that.

The film’s main message, which overlaps with the title character’s development could be summed up by one famous quote:
“The best revenge is to be unlike him who performed the injury.”-Marcus Aurelius.

That’s something I cannot argue with!
Mask of the Phantasm is just spectacular for the said reasons. :+1: :handshake:

Opinion: The first live-action Transformers movie was memorable but not much better than the rest of the Bay Pentalogy.
It mostly suffered from the same aspects as the other films the main reason it is remembered more fondly is probably nostalgia.
