Velika (Tyrant Form)

After a break, I got the itch to build some bonks again, so here’s my own take on Velika.

For those that don’t know (spoilers I guess), the Voya Nui Matoran Velika is actually a Great Being in disguise. He is systematically eliminating powerful members of the Matoran Universe to secure his position as ruler of the now reformed Spherus Magna. With this moc, I imagine a new form for Velika’s Matoran body on Spherus Magna. My idea is it combines visual motifs from what he might’ve looked like as a Great Being, but merged with a Matoran frame, if that makes sense.

He’s just standing theremenacingly

With his L-shaped limbs, classic technic panel pieces, and two-toed feet, I aimed for a Slizer/Throwbots-like silhouette. I’m far from the first to have the idea that GBs resemble Bionicle’s real-life predecessor, but it’s such a fun meta concept, I had to use it.

Here he’s mimicking the pose on his original box art. His weapon is the Null Scepter - a special staff that has the ability to block elemental powers within a certain radius.

Back view. I made the middle pieces to be light-grey because I imagine its like a spinal column. It matches the mixel joints leading into his head, as you can see in the next picture.

I should also note that the hands being attached via bars mean you can turn them for various expressions.

“Join mewe have complementary lemon donuts, and everyone gets paid in 2005 era lime joints.”

By the way, you can also stick the staff on his back.

“No one cared who I was until I put on the Kanohi.”

This and the following picture show my custom head design I made for that ‘mono-eye’ effect. I’ve had this idea for a while now, as the Komau mask is practically begging for it. My initial attempts were not at all stable, often falling apart if you merely turned the head, and it took some effort before I figured out this design:

The best solutions are often the simplest. Here’s a little guide on the head construction, in case you want to try making your own. This build is perfectly stable and has not fallen apart no matter how much I yoink around Velika’s head. Sure, my Mclaren Elva (Set 76902) is missing a taillight, but…

Here’s a side view focusing on his arms.

The staff. It connects to the hands by plugging those little stud-pins right into the finger holes. You probably guessed this, but the studs represent the elements. Orange = Stone, Dark Green = Earth, Dark Blue = Water, Red = Fire, Light Green = Air, and Light Blue = Ice.

“You haven’t mentioned anything about a Bahrag Kingdoes that imply your moms are single? Just asking.”

Just a lil Bohrok for scale.

I think that about wraps it up. Let me know what you think of the moc, hopefully you like it. Only complaint I have personally is the Komau doesn’t come in black, but eh what can ya do. Besides, maybe the brown gives his head a little ‘pop’ instead of blending into the body. Or I’m just coping idk.
