Aside from those two, there is a entity that attacks people when they are dreaming known as the Annona which would mean that dreams play a role in the Bionicle universe. I am NOT looking for if the Matoran Toa or other creatures could dream or not.
I want to know which character was able to have dreams. If you have any information as to who had dreams, please provide evidence. Thank you
Vakama’s visions were not dreams, as he was fully conscious during their occurring. They were also never called dreams in Bionicle lore, but are instead called visions every time they are referenced.
I have looked thoroughly across BS01 for any reference of Hahli having a dream in MNOG II, but I have been unable to find any indication that this ever took place. Setting that aside, however, there are several instances of characters described as either sleeping or having slept:
The Bohrok Hordes
Norik
Mata Nui
Matoran (in the Makuta spheres)
Matoran (outside of the Makuta spheres)
A Giant Squid
Sahmad
All Glatorian, Agori, and Skrall
I also looked for every instance of a character either dreaming or having dreamed:
Takua
Norik
Bomonga
Metus
The Iron Tribe
All Glatorian, Agori, and Skrall
Numerous Skakdi
There is also Gatherer, a Matoran and Dark Hunter who is specifically described as being incapable of sleep, but I think his existence proves this question is just a bit too silly. By the nature of specific mention being made to a character that cannot sleep, this greatly assumes (and canon backs up this assumption at every possible turn) that having the ability to sleep is not only the norm, but is universal, and by extension the ability to dream (as several individuals and multiple species both inside and outside the GSR have done so) is also the status quo.
It is both logical and completely safe to assume everyone in the Bionicle story is capable of sleep, unless specifically stated otherwise, such as in the case of Gatherer, and by extension are fully capable of natural dreams. You can find every single listing for sleep and dreams that I found and the citations for each instance on BS01, along with a wealth of additional info.
Also, the Dreaming Plague that killed off most of the Iron tribe on Bara Magna functioned by inhibiting their ability to dream, driving them all insane.
If not being able to dream drove an entire race of people to insanity, it’s safe to assume that dreaming is a regular part of Glatorian (and likely Matoran) sleep.
Have you played and started the MNOG II game? The opening shows Hahli believing she was in a black void and suddenly a white light enveloped her. The next scene shows her Lily pad house as she wakes up. And in Hahli’s house she has a bed.
However, her dreaming in that game as you mentioned adds even more evidence to the presumption that all Matoran can dream.
Hahli and Takua’s dreams were also likely influenced by an external force, possibly Artakha or the OoMN, as they contained important information shown through extremely vague terms. However, only Takua has shown any kind of mental capability above that of the average Matoran, as demonstrated through his mental link with Gali, and neither of them found the fact that they had dreamed to be peculiar.
