Galidor. A 2002 Lego theme loved by few and hated by many, it’s notable for a lot of reasons. Being completely different to other Lego products in general, having a not too well received TV show and not playing a minor role in Lego’s near bankruptcy, it’s no surprise that many dislike Galidor.
However, I’m one of the few people who genuinely enjoy Galidor, both its sets and the TV show. So while it’s unlikely to ever happen, I’ve been thinking: what if Lego ever brought back Galidor? How would you like to see a potential Galidor reboot? I’ve made a few questions, since I think that’s the easiest way to get answers.
It doesn’t let me add titles to the polls directly, so I’m writing them above the poll.
Would you like to see Galidor return?
Yes!
No!
I’m indifferent to that.

If Galidor returned, how’d you like the sets to be?
Only action figures.
Primarily action figures with complimentary minifig scale sets, like Bionicle.
Primarily minifig scale sets with complimentary action figures, like Knights Kingdom or Chima.
Only minifig scale sets.

How should the story be told?
A full-blown TV series like the original, just with better writing and higher production quality.
A big, one-off movie.
Comics and books.
All kinds of everything.
I don’t care about the story.

In terms of story, what would you like to see?
Pick up where they left off (the series ended on a cliffhanger).
Retell the original story.
Reboot the franchise with a fresh story.

And lastly… Could Galidor actually be remade?
Yes, definitely!
Not at all.
Maybe, but not in the forseeable future.

That’s all I have for now. Feel free to elaborate your choices and discuss! I’d love to hear some opinions and ideas!
As somone who didn’t get into Galidor when it was around I’m a bit indifferent, but I’m a firm believer in reboots so I think it’d be fun to see how they could take the sets and story in a new way.
Woah, I never thought about it like that! I have the white one and always thought that the combining is a fun feature. Never occured to me that it’s basically glinching.
Out of curiosity, while Bionicle has gotten a couple fun easter eggs and nods to it over the years, has Lego referenced Galidor in any capacity since? I’ve seen people say Lego is embarrassed of Galidor, but I don’t know if that’s projection to some degree. I can say personally I thought the creature designs were cool (especially that frog guy) but even as a kid I remember thinking the main guy with his jet plane arms looked like a dork.
But lego really went all-in on that theme once upon a time, even putting out a show and a McDonalds line (I probably still got mine in a box somewhere in a garage). If only G1 Bionicle could’ve gotten a tv show…
My understanding is that Lego created the concept, and then the TV series was part of the marketing. It’s kind of like the Ninjago TV series, albeit with a touch more third-part influence.
The closest comparison would probably be Mixels; Mixels was neither a toy line nor a TV show “first”.
smh my head just master the dark Ghid magic and you can have every shirt you could want
Funky idea that I would actually get behind - work Galidor into another theme. Lego did something like that with Clutch Powers, a kind of popular movie way back in the 2000s. Clutch himself appeared in his own movie and then in a Legoland 4D theater exclusive video (which was actually pretty good, I want to find a recording of it), but most recently appeared in Ninjago. Galidor could get a similar treatment, with Nick or one of the other characters surfacing in some current Lego theme.
This also gave me an interesting idea - what if we got a Lego-original theme based entirely on reviving old themes? Mash together all of the themes that didn’t get much light or the ones that have since retired and you suddenly have a very diverse theme with plenty of characters and nostalgia. We could see Nick Bluetooth team up with Clutch Powers, those Exo-Force dudes, and… I don’t know, Rock Raiders or something. That being said, it’d probably be pretty hard to tie all of their individual stories together, so maybe we’re better off just getting one-offs in single episodes of Ninjago.
not exactly what you’re suggesting but for a while I’ve wanted them to just take the concept of Ninjago Legacy and just expand it to every theme, remaking old sets with modern pieces.
Again, Lego Dimensions; just do some kind of “colliding multiverse”-type story.
That’s assuming, of course, that these themes don’t already take place in the same universe; Lego has a habit of putting these original themes in some kind of shared setting, albeit in a different time and/or place. Maybe time travel?
The best option would be to write a detailed shared universe for all these themes, but we all know from Bionicle that Lego prefers to keep things somewhat simple.
(Also, Clutch Powers piloting an Exo-Force mech would be pretty sweet.)
Or have it like the Clutch Powers movie (and Ultra Agents/Galaxy Squad) did: use themes that could already be seen as coexisting (or are at least currently available), and any time discrepancies could be explained by the plot of the story (ie. Castle could be featured with a sci-fi theme, and just have part of the plot involve time travel or Castle being, say, a Renaissance fair or similar event held at an ancient castle).
Ultra Agents had the novel plot point of having the sci-fi tech in it come from a space military group (Galaxy Squad), which was also where the team leader came from. Using something like that with Exo-Force, like having it be the future iteration of Ninjago in such a collection of themes, could potentially work well.
My understanding of Ninjago lore is that the First Spinjitzu Master did his thing way back at the start of recorded history. I suppose it’s not impossible for Keiken to be the First Spinjitzu Master, but it would be pretty weird for people to develop all of these cool robots and mechs, only to have all traces of them removed from history.
If the two themes are in the same universe, it seems far more likely that Exo-Force is in the future of Ninjago, or perhaps happens at the same time in a foreign land.
Ok this response is a little late, but how did you do that? Curious that it gets filtered in the quote…
Not that I’d want to bypass the filter with malicious intent, but it would feel refreshing to be able to name this particular piece of clothing.
