One positive development (at least, in my opinion) in the rebooted Bionicle has been the variety of the sets so far. While the Toa are fairly straightforward humanoid beings, the six announced villains so far range from a spider, to what I believe is supposed to be a scorpion, to a gladiator with extremely long toenails, a four armed wannabe Gordon Ramsey…and some more humanoids. Obviously, the quality of these sets is another matter entirely, but considering how much variety has been inbetween the sets so far, I felt it was worth asking: What kind of a creature/being would you like to see Lego try to turn into a Bionicle set in the future?
Personally, I would like a giant “golem” type of set; a big, overbearing creation in the $35-$40 price range with a ton of technic inside (like LoSS) and some actual effort made to cover the aforementioned technic up (unlike LoSS). A gear function that made him raise his hands over his head and slam them into the ground would complete the experience for me.
Rahi sets, and small villager bags replacing the “Good Guy” “Bad Guy” things from gen 1.
Of course, these small villagers MUST have different masks.
Using Technic and ccbs like they did this year should be something carried on into future years as it worked well.
Also, keep ‘non-shooter’ functions around.
That or a dragon that flaps its wings and has a blaster function in its mouth. Or a proper ccbs snake, like a cobra, with a snapping its head foward and biting function. Crystal Serpents anyone? In the vein of birds, my favorite animal is the Barn Owl. So a constraction owl set would be awesome. Most any creature type as long as it has functions. They could have another Phantoka/Mistika story arch only this time the characters have wing flapping functions instead of giant blasters and easily broken pieces
Honestly, I would like it if we could get some larger sets like we did in G1’s latter years. Not necessarily vehicles per se, but some large villains or maybe even rahi once again. Something that’s outside the $30 range, and actually includes a fair bit of CCBS, functionality, and TECHNIC inside. I think it would please both G1 AND G2 fans alike. Just an idea.
The only thing that 2015 is missing is titans. Something that is a good combination of ccbs and technic. Also, something unique from the old hero factory titans. Those were always pretty lame if you ask me.
