Why do the Toa Mahri breathe water instead of air

I already know the reason in the comic but i want to know why did you choose water instead of air?

I’m not Greg, but given that the sets were designed first I’d think it’s safe to assume it was moreso the set designers’ call to have them be how they were.

Well, Water rhymes with air, so maybe lego just made a typo? They probably meant to have mahri nui be in the sky like Karda Nui was, since the Barraki look like birds.

As HBB points out, sets got designed before story. The sets were designed to be underwater heroes, so unless they could breathe water, they weren’t going to last too long in the 2007 story.
