I guess they really felt it was a good name.
Because they considered that game a successor/tribute to Xenosaga and/or Xenogears series.

Basically, Its original title of Li’il Folks was a no go, because the distributor thought it was too similar to this other comic called Little Folks. This caused the name to be changed to Peanuts, which was chosen randomly.
Doesn’t really explain why they chose Peanuts, though.
And that’s the reason. It was just randomly chosen, with no meaning behind it.
