From what I’ve seen of the LOMN movie, the Toa Metru turn into turaga at the end. Was the original Metru trilogy supposed to end then? If so, why was it dragged on to 2005?

I don’t know what the original plan for 2005 was. I do know that, given the time and expense put into creating Metru Nui as a setting, it was felt that it made no sense to scrap it after one year. So the Powers That Be decided to do another story set in Metru Nui with the Metru, and hence 2005.
