I like windows 10 so far
REALLY slow to start, I’ve found; when I first updated everything took like a minute to respond every time I clicked on something else.
Everything started running smoothly in about half an hour or so though, and in fact I think most things are actually faster (Premiere, for example, now opens in a few seconds rather than a few minutes).
Haven’t used Edge, and I don’t particularly plan on doing so. Nothing against it, I’m just used to Chrome by now and I think a change, even to a browser that may potentially be better, would just confuse and frustrate me.
If I had to give two complaints, they would be as follows:
- Cortana isn’t available in Australia yet. Kind of frustrating, but not the worst thing ever I guess. I probably wouldn’t even use her that much anyway, I’m just of the opinion that it’d be fun.
- Those taskbar icons are so freaking small. I’m using a third-party program right now to enlarge them, but it’s only a 30-day trial so in a month they’ll just go back to being tiny. I really hope we get a fix for this soon, I didn’t think it would bug me this much but it really does.
Seriously though, if those are my two main complaints I think we can all agree that Windows 10 is a fairly good offering. As far as I have been able to tell in two days of use, there are no serious problems and nothing too difficult really. A little counter-intuitive and odd in a few places, but usually that can be fixed with a quick Google search (I personally had it running exactly the way I wanted it to in about half an hour, for reference).
Of course, I’ve also taken notice of @Takua’s post (albeit without the critical tone) and adjusted my settings accordingly during initial setup (I’m not honestly too bothered about Microsoft advertising to me and such, so I didn’t feel the need to go through and turn EVERYTHING off).
Wow, I think I rambled way too much. At the very least, I hope I’ve given some valuable information here hidden among all the drivel.
Can’t you manage the icon size through taskbar and start menu properties like in 7? I personnally prefer tiny baby icons but I guess there should be a similar option on 10.

@RECspiriah Mind elaborating on what features and such you don’t enjoy? I would like to know what to mess with after upgrading.
not posting anything else other then
go to settings-system-display.
Well, yes you can, but it doesn’t quite work the way I’d like it to. This is the way the icons look without “Use small icons” ticked:
And then with the option ticked, they become absolutely TINY:
(Keeping in mind that all of these are at a 1:1 ratio to how they appear on-screen.)
And finally, using StartIsBack’s “larger taskbar icons” option:
That brings them back to about the size they used to be in 7 and 8, but again StartIsBack is only a trial so it’s not a permanent solution. It’s not really a huge problem, but it bugs me a lot more than I would’ve thought it would.
The thing is, that resizes everything on the screen. I find everything else to be a fine size on 10, it’s just the taskbar icons that are oddly small. So sadly, not a feasible solution really.
Also, for those who are going crazy about Windows 10 “stealing your privacy” or whatever you choose to believe from some picture on the internet, please refer to this collection of pictures to sway your opinions.
I just got the update notification during Algebra 2 last period. I’m updating on Saturday
So, I finally updated to Windows 10, and I gotta say: I love it.
The only downsides are that it uses Bing Search when using Cortana, and it took away one of my Anti-Virus programs.
I ain’t upgrading to windows 10
Mainly because classic games can barely run on windows 7.
And it’s got all them ADS.

PUUURRRGGGEEE
also my dad would kill me if I installed a new OS
does he hate installing app updates as well on his phone as well
considering that his phone can’t access the Internet, I’d say no.
So I updated to Windows 10 on my HP, because it got the notification first (Because I use it for school while my Dell is off 90% of the time now), Saturday night. I honestly love it. The Start Screen is cool too (I toggled that on immediately). Edge is actually a good browser, it stayed on my task bar as my alternate browser. I’ve only experienced glitches when opening up new programs but that is to be expected. All in all. I like it a lot.
A friend of mine downloaded Windows 10, and she says it’s great.
My mom hates it.
I, personally, will not be downloading it at all.
i am not lookin forward to it at all. it will be as crappy as all the other windows versions. i’m just glad i have my windows 7 for playing skyrim and that i can do everything else on MacOS.
Development stopped on that I think in 2001, why are you still using it
MacOSX is still a version of MacOS…
Ok, now im starting to regret installing Windows 10.
But then; I heard people with 7,8 are getting forced/heavily notified.
is true
every few hours or sometimes at login we get the notifications
I am not one of those people, fortunately.
I have been using windows 10 on multiple platforms including mobile, laptops and desktops and everything so far has been working as it should. The interface has improved from windows 8 but retains pop up menu from windows 7.
