Zane's transformation into the Titanium Ninja

I’ve always been a fan of Ninjago, but only recently have gotten into the episodes. I’ve finished season 3 and 4 just a few days ago, and noticed a rather big plot hole.

Is there a canon explanation as to how Zane transformed into the Titanium Ninja, and how he ended up on Chen’s island in the first place? Also, is there also an explanation as to why Pixal got scrapped and also ended up on the island next to Zane?

The titanium form was probably chosen by Zane at the end of season 3 when he created his body anew in the Borg Tower.

In the non-canon game Ninjago Shadow of Ronin Zane remembers that after his recreation he and Pixal were abducted by Ronin and brought to Chen’s island, who paid Ronin a lot of money for that. I guess Pixal just wasn’t worth the trouble?
