Cyber-Hand's Forge

I can see the hard work, man. I know what it feels like to work incredibly hard on a creative piece for little recognition, and your progress is amazing. Really.

At the moment, the area directly below the “mouth”/ chin is looking much better. I feel like some detail is missing 1-1.5 cm. below the two smaller spikes above the eyes (each beside the two giant ones on top), but I can’t quite place what it is.

@Doomarak That mask is freaking fantastic. I’m saving up for it now.

Oh, wait, nevermind, I thought there were grooves carved into the sides of the mask, upon close inspection, I realise that those were the little triangular bits on the mask.

That’s an immaculately detailed mask, though, I hope that the Shapeways method of printing can preserve that detail. ^^

Have you considered asking anyone with a liquid resin printer like the Form 2 from Formlabs? On the highest detail for that printer, there’d be almost no visible build lines and all the hard work you’ve put into detailing the mask should be preserved. It’d also make for easier resin casting, because there’d be little to no sanding required, just sanding the circular trimmings from the support material. ^^

It looks awesome.

I think I will buy it in high def acrylate when the final version is out😀

The wobbling issue is definitely fixed! It fits snug and tight on a G2 head. I’m definitely going to look forward to your sanding video–I need a good polished finish for the one I’m planning to paint!

What 3D rendering programm do you use?

I use a program called cinema 4d for my modelling and rendering.

They are really expensive :disappointed_relieved:

Yes, but 100% worth it for a complete collection.

So I painted MoUP again, this time it’s looks almost like from lego.

I know. I mean with expensive the program he use.

That looks really nice, great job with the paint!

Cyber-hand, you’re one of the nicest people I will ever know. Sorry I have been gone from the topic for a while, but reading that longer post you made a while ago wormed my heart.

But because of my absence I’m wondering a few things:
1st Is that the final edition of the MoUP?
2and I’m thinking of buying the mask sometime soon for an accurate version of it, what material should I get and what paint should I use?
3rd Any update on the G2 Mask of time? I’m working on a few stop motion projects that will use it.

Thanks for everything Cyber-Hand!

Soo… I just painted big MoUP too.

Guess i have to pick up that paint

Apologies, since I know you have enough on your plate with this and the Vahi and such, but have you ever considered making JTO accurate pieces? Because the villager torso shells in he series just look delicious. xP And also because we could then have a more effeminate Gali torso. :stuck_out_tongue: Anyway, just an idea, I might even try it after I get into 3D modeling and such.

How did you get that color?

@aatkaw I used this paint, Citadel’s Auric Gold.

It really is, luckily I got the program free from my school.I also find it the easiest to use out of the 3d programs that I have used in the past.

  1. Unless we get better images of the mask. Which the only way I see how, is if the concept art book has orthopedic images of the front and side of the mask then yes this will be the final version of the Mask. The thing preventing me from putting out the current model is that I am trying to work around the slight distortion that the camera would have given in the photos. Which would be easier if I knew the lens the camera was using.
  2. If you are willing to wait a little longer, the resin models that I will be making should be better than the the ones you can get on shapeways. They will be more flexible and much smooth/shiny. I will be selling them for $12, making them cheaper than shapeways as well.
  3. Not at the moment no, I am still trying to come up with a way to make it look good from the side. I will update you all when that is ready.

That being said I was told by someone that when I make it I should keep it as accurate to the images that we have as possible. So here is what I have done so far, which I think is pretty accurate.

As you can see it is just like the comic. Flat since we never see it from anything other than perfectly straight on, haha.

I did consider it but I don’t think I will ever get around to it. Since there are aren’t many good shots where we see the armour. But now that you mention it, I would like to try and make a figure that looks like the Villagers in JTO.

I am not able to print anything small and intricate on my printer at the moment. The filament I am using is too soft and keeps getting caught in the extruder. So I will be spending today working on the video that shows how to smooth the prints. It will be on the older version of the mask so look forward to that.

OK, I understand the accurate thing so we can all get the one from the comic, but I’m telling you, please use you’re own creative ideas to make one that works better as an actual 3d mask.

Thanks for answering all my question man!
