Introduce Yourself!

Hey all. My name is Hailey, I go by “Teridax” in the competitive Smash Bros & Rivals of Aether scenes. I’m also a game developer, and current student. You can check out my work on my itchio page. As y’all can tell by my tag, I adore the bionicles. I got on board in 2006, with my first set being Toa Jaller. Just this year, I got Matoro and completed my Inika set! I mostly talk to other fans within my own communities, but I want to spend more time with the bionicle community. You guys are cool, I hope I see you around.

Hello I am ToaGoodGuy and I have been a huge bionicle fan for many years. I found TTV through Eljays Recap Reviews a long time ago but never made an account. But recently I thought I might join the forum and engage with the rest of the Bionicle community.

Hey I’m Valkitus. I think I got more into Bionicle when the Rahkshi released but I used to have a few other sets prior to that (rip Mctoran Onepu). Got to know TTV when they were still working on the Bionicle project in Minecraft and stuck around after that. Judging by other posts, I didn’t realize BZPower was still alive. I used to frequent the site a lot during G1.

Hello everyone, I’m new here and I haven’t quite done something like this in a long time.

Back in the day, I was obsessive with Bionicle and to this day I’m still very fond of it and hope to see it return (again). My history with the series is… Interesting to say the least.

I was there in the very beginning, waaay back in 2001 when the line initially started, I was nine years old at the time. My first sort of figure set was the Nuparu “Mctoran” toy, closely followed by my first official set which was for real Toa Tahu. Ever since then I’ve strived to collect the other Toa and the rest is history.

Me and a neighbor friend would collectively share and play with these figures, and occasionally take them apart to build new and interesting creations with them. For a while there this was basically my life, this and Pokemon haha.

However I stopped buying the sets around 2005, not because that year’s storyline for the series was odd but because I was basically belittled for liking them in middle school. In fact a lot of the stuff I was into was mocked by peers (pokemon, star wars, this, etc.) so my passion, for lack of a better term, was faded away thanks to overly-entitled pre-teens. It also didn’t help that my neighbor friend wanted to forget about them also in order to fit in with the crowd (he really wanted to be popular or whatever).

Despite this setback, I still continued to follow the story line behind the scenes. I also had a younger cousin who collected the sets still around the 2007-2010 time frame, and he always needed my help to assemble most of them so there’s also that. Like most I was saddened by the cancellation/conclusion of the original Bionicle line when it was initially announced. I remember it being an impossible thing due to how long the series had been around and how popular to others like me it was.

For a time, I moved on with my life. At this point I was in college getting my degree in art when I heard word of the line coming back. When I saw images of the “new” 2015 sets a huge wave of nostalgia hit me and I made every effort to get each set as soon as possible. and thanks to the help of Geoff (a good friend of mine since early high school that’s my go-to guy for things like this) I was able to relive my nostalgia by getting my first 2015 set that was, ironically enough, Toa Tahu Master of Fire.

This nostalgia wave stayed for a while until I had to slow down and save money for more important living matters since I am basically an adult and all that. Then the lined got cancelled yet again in 2016, which wasn’t as surprising as the first time but still sucked.

So here I am now. An artist and child at heart who still hopes to see this franchise return in a big way.

Thanks to whoever reads my story here. Again, I never really do message boards so this is a first for me. I hope this wasn’t too ridiculous of a fist topic for me is what I’m really saying.

Also, does anyone else relate to having to deal with this sort of peer pressure of not being into “childish things” as a middle or high schooler? I always had this sense of isolation due to this but I couldn’t possibly be the only one?

Again, thanks for reading!

Love your pokemon art, esp. sick fakemon designs! (thanks quick google search)

Also, I think the advent of Netflix making Avatar: the Last Airbender widely available, (Disney+ streaming Clone Wars, or Disney+ in general, pokemon being established long enough to now have an older fan base, etc), I don’t find all that much stigma in liking ‘childish’ things. I think it’s commendable if something manages to capture the imaginations of adults and children. There’s probably enough adults out there who like the same childish things you/we do, enough so that they can drown out the adults who don’t. My dad, who’s like 67, turns into a little kid when you offer to play RISK with him, which was a huge part of his childhood. I do agree that it’s harder to find Bionicle fans in my normal (mid-20’s) social circles, but LEGO in general is pretty popular, if not a bit ‘nerdy’. Maybe I’m preaching to the choir, but it just depends on where and who you’re looking at, what kind of peer pressure you’re perceiving (potential downsides in choosing people too much like you with no variation).

Haha, but I agree, lockdown isn’t helping anything.

Tek’ma’te!

Yeah. I usually just grinned and bore it lol. I did start to hide some things, like Bionicle fandom, when I got to high school. It probably helped that I’d already gone through a similar thing as a young child–in first grade, I got picked on for being a fan of Thomas the Tank Engine. XD

Hi TTVMB!

I’m an artist, and at 26, essentially a life-long BIONICLE fan. I’ve grown a lot over the last 20 years, and apparently so has the BIO online community! My goodness we’ve been busy since I “left,” in a manner of speaking. I think it’s beautiful just how it is, just as it always has been. I checked in back during the 2015 Renaissance, and boy was the TTV YT Channel the place to be! But I found the reboot’s story a bit distasteful, and quickly checked back out, only to feel the pull to MOCing coming back stronger and stronger. Sounds like the people here care a lot, although our passions get turned against each other. Much like our original heroes had to balance their passions on multiple occasions.

I first was inspired by Noah Production’s Ignition movies about a year ago, and since then, I’ve been laying the foundation for a stop motion series I’m doing using my MOCs. So, nice to meet ya, have a plug! Come check out my bio, or read the introductory topic I’m gonna post later today. Short version : I’ve already gotten the outline of the plot of the series almost broken down, and I now find myself wondering why this project wasn’t more in people’s faces already.

So you better watch out, cause I’m gonna be the next Hokage, BELIEVE IT!

But seriously, I’m excited to make many friends, and get real collaborative around here!
