Okotan Adventures: Spider Saga

As the guards spoke The Collected whirled around, hammer raised, and a jagged, blood red, and white mask in his other hand.

Upon his face he was wearing the second of the two masks he’d originally made, the shadow gray and black one of standard build.

For but a moment the guards may have seen his eye shadowed, yet carrying an anger nearly seeming to not be his own in it’s distached intensity, and what they may have sworn to be shadows, or a least a substance of similar look and feel, flowing in thin, dissipating trails from the corner of his eyes.

Of course such a glimpse may have been disregarded as an… illusion of the light, or similar due to just how quickly it vanished after being revealed.

I… Yesss… Yes… If the Ancient one is calling than I shall come.” The Collected hissed as he registered the guards presence and what they said. Quickly moving to swap out the grey and black mask with his usual cracked mask of unknown design.

He appeared to have been keeping it be low his cloak, exactly where he was moving to place the other one as he leaned the hammer against the now dimming forge, and proceeded to move towards the guards.
Skirting through his recently forged mess of… ‘odds and ends’ with rather surprising ease.

“Food!” Yelled the twins as they made a mad dash for the table.

Blaze nods to Rena, “Lead on.”

Dakron followed Rena cautiously.

Streke glanced down. “There it is.” He said.

Keya shrugs and turns to Hitora. “Lead the way, I guess.” She tells him.

“After the others get here.” He reminded her.

“Yeah, that’s what I said.”

“Perhaps it would be more worthwhile if we began advancing, and hope we can find someone along the way.” He mused. “Vizuna’s life could very much be in peril at this point.”

“Fair enough.” Hitora said, glancing at Ekimu for confirmation.

Azure takes another look around her perimeter to see if no ones watching her but sees no one even though it feels like it. Azure then catches up with the conversation and nods to pretend that she had listened. @jayzor17, @Ghid, @Runa

Ghabix was slowly making his way through the crowd, to see what happened.

(Just gonna not go on a detailed run through of a family dinner as it would be seen as pointless and a waste of time by the others)

Icar and his family dig into their meal and discuss their day, including Kapura’s hijinks and Vladin’s questions.

Blaze follows behind her.

Vladin silently listened to them.

A fire Okotan child ran across the room imagining his toy figure flying like the Toa or at least this little Okotan believed all Toa could fly. The kid was around 7 years old and his energetic personality reflected this well his mask was a bright reddish orange fading into a smoke like grey color. The mask was worn with several spots of colors that had faded away. On the floor sat another fire Okotan child several years younger than the kid circling her for the fifth time, she wore a silver and red mask shaped differently than the older childs and most of her other clothing and armor plating matched her mask. She smiled at her brother running around her as she knocked over a tower of wooden blocks with one of her hands. Her brother landed his figure next to the fallen tower, “You’ll pay for that, for I am Toa Tahu” The older kid said. The younger sibling chuckled and knocked the figure over, “Hey, you can’t do that, it is not fair, Tahu isn’t that easily defeated.” He took the figure and made him stand up again “He’s down” She replied chuckling a bit before knocking the figure over again giving a wide smile on her face. The brother smiled back and placed the figure on its legs again. “I’ll always gets back up after being knocked down.” He replied, “Tahu summons a fire and defeats the giant toddler!” He continues as he moves the figures arms to simulate him shooting fire from them and then putting it down to attempt tickling the younger sister unable to stop him she goes down with a loud laughter…

…Present day…

Virky wakes up in Domau and hers hut. Domau was her brother they had lived together for as long as she can remember. They had no parents so they had to take care of each other and that was good enough for her. Even though she sometimes had these strange dreams about her and another fire Okotan kid maybe he was a friend from long ago was usually the conclusion she drew. She jumpes out of bed and stretches her arms yawning a bit still before stumbling out into the kitchen she tiredly makes it to the fridge and grabs some foods to make breakfast. Already seated was a clearly awoke Domau reading the papers “Morning, sleepy head” He states seeing the tired Virky taking a seat at the dinner table, “Morning.” She tiredly responds, “Running any errands today?” He asks, Virky looks at the time “Yeah… and I’m late!” she replies as she stands up and grabs a piece of bread in her mouth. Domau chuckles at the scene and puts away his paper to help her prepare for her day of work.

"Walking along, doo doo do, one foot in front of the other, ambulation, doo doo do, singing a song about walking, " Muttered Traykar to himself, as he continued to hike.

Tohi follows silently.

@jayzor17 Jevis continues walking toward the building, pushing his way through the crowded market. He spots a vendor who looked like they were friendly enough, and walked up. “Excuse me, but do you know where the protector of this region would be?” Jevis asked in a pretty innocent voice.

Vladin continued eating, as he was listening the family of Fire Okotoans talking.

Athena landed her Gukko on one platform in the overall area of the centre of the city. She hopped off it and looked at Streke, expecting that he would have already landed his Gukko.
“All right, I go to see if Ekimu is in the Forge. You go and search for your friend.” she said turning around and leaving before she could receive a response from Streke.

Rena continued leading the group through the forest.

The Lord of the Undying Storm opened his eyes again.

His back was in such a painful twist he could not sleep for more than twenty minutes at a time. These bizarre runes were making it harder and harder to move, so his very massive body was stuck in a space a bit too small for him to be in, and with movement requiring far more strength than he had at present - if possible at all - he had no option but to sit in misery and hate his present existence.

It’s so dark in here… He let out a quiet suppressed groan, before cutting it off suddenly. Wouldn’t want Ekimu to hear me… Wait, why do I care?! Why should I, Lord of the Undying Storm, care what any Okotan thinks or believes?

…Because this one Okotan hit me so hard I blacked out, that’s why. He huffed as he sucked air into his lungs and tried - completely in vain - to move again. Well, why do I even keep trying that?

Another couple of minutes dragged on in silence. Why do these Okotans have so much power, anyway? Power to challenge those who rightfully belong in authority? A low growl escaped his lips instinctively. Those rotted Okotans and their… Incredibly tiny cells, runes that-

Runes that… The Storm feebly looked about the room, but the only light he saw was a very faint light so dim it could not light up anything else, present outside the cell. Runes that must be draining my power.

It was no secret, these runes, to the Storm, but he either hadn’t cared enough to hear anything more about it or had simply forgotten over the many years of solitude. But… Is- is it temporary? Surely it must be temporary! A week, a month, maybe… They come back. They must come back. Surely they must! Ekimu couldn’t- he wouldn’t do that to me!!

Two more minutes dragged on. No, I know what it is. He must be the only one who can restore them. Yes, he’s going to use me as a puppet, is he? Well I’ll show him… First, play along with his game… Then, after he’s convinced I’m his personal errand boy, leap on him and choke his lights out! Yes, then, with that mask, I can…

I can… I can… The Storm looked about in failing desperation. I… Can’t. My brothers were all imbeciles, they fell for every gimmick I pulled. But Ekimu - there’s no way I can put on an act in front of him, not after… Goodness, what has it been? a day, at most? I am really pathetic, aren’t I?

Maybe there’s still something left of that cringing, whining cowardly fool Vaalku left in me… He tried to ignore the water in his eyes. Enough that I’m still afraid of the dark sometimes…

It’s so dark in here…

Streke nodded, and set off to search the city.

Dakron followed, stepping cautiously.

Dax and Capella stay close behind, talking rather quietly among themselves, though the topic of the conversation was mostly of their surroundings.

One of the guards steps away, but the others hold their ground. They’re rejoined with the final guard, Mask of Stone in hand, and the four escort The Collected back to Ekimu, barring any interruptions.

@Runa @Ghid @Tarkur Ekimu raises a hand in greeting as the guards return. One of them hands over Blaze’s note with a wordless grimace. Ekimu heaves a sigh.

“Well, it appears Blaze will be joining you at a later time, if at all.” He then turns to The Collected.

“Collected, this is Hitora, Gladius, and Azure. I wish you to accompany them and provide them assistance in their quest. I need your word that you shall do as they say and not hinder them in any way.”

“Mm?” The vendor regards him with a curious expression. “You’re looking for Vizuna, eh? Need some pests dealt with?” He laughs at his own joke. “Well, he hasn’t been 'round here for quite some time now… six weeks, perhaps? I think he went out to the ruins. You know, the ones down south. That’s what I heard on the street, anyways. Probably met some poor sap on his way back and ran off somewhere else. Vizuna’s too hard-working for his own good, I say. Doesn’t spend enough time enjoying himself.” The vendor winks. “Anyhow, could I interest you in a cowrie roll? Made fresh this morning, as always.”
