Eh. I think the way they brought back Maya is cheap and fanservice-ey. First off, the design. Nothing, apart from slightly longer clothes, some gloves and a hood, has changed. Wow, what character design! Heck, even the scene with her at the defence’s bench shows her completely unchanged! Also, the very few lines she speaks make me very concerned: not only are they pronounced in a voice that doesn’t fit a 28-year-old at all, they’re no different from the Trilogy Maya. I’m kinda afraid we’re going to get a flanderised, completely unchanged character just for the sake of fan pandering, but we’ll have to see ourselves once the game comes out. Story-wise, however, they did a good job to bring her back: the Kingdom of Kursin is confirmed as the birthplace of spirit channeling, so naturally Nick’d need Maya’s assistance to get through whatever trials and tribulations are awaiting.

In short: disappointed, but there’s still hope!
