BIONICLE 2015 Discussion Topic

I concur about the masks. Kopaka’s is the only really good one, and the lack of Gali’s or Tahu’s is quite a disappointment. I don’t see why they didn’t include those in the first place. Maybe it was budget cuts? I don’t know.

Guys, I figured it out! Gali and Tahu’s mask will be included with Good Guy 2.0 in a polybag along with excess red and blue pins!

Oh and Greg will canonize it too.

I’m guessing Lewa’s is drained the most because he lost it first…

I’m loving the box art for the new sets.

Noticing a lot of ‘flying creatures’ in the art. Possibly 2016 villains? :stuck_out_tongue:

That’d be pretty cool actually.

So thats what happened to them!

@Toa_Matoro

Okay. Allow me to point a few things out, please.

  1. Comments like the one you first made on this thread are called “hating”. People do it because something changed and because is hasn’t met their expectations. People look down on it because, boiled down, hating offers nothing constructive and is merely based on greed for something they haven’t been given. If you want to be respected on the message boards (or anywhere else in the fanbase), I suggest you not rehash these arguments again, and merely say “I prefer Generation 1 better”. (I was going to say “without explaining why” but I think you came up with a decent explanation.

  2. BIONICLE, from 2001 especially, had the same target agerange as sets do nowadays. The slightly older demographic was also important, but when all is said and done, these are toys made for kids. The story needs to be made for children to understand and want to buy the sets, and when it gets too convoluted they lose attention, and when it gets too dark they get turned away. Specialized terms (Turaga, Ga-Koro, etc) will convolute the story, especially after ten years of vocabulary, and therefore turn away children from the story, causing LEGO to lose money.

  3. What’s so different between six heroes on an island battling a legion of spiders, led by a titan spider, in order to claim a powerful Mask, and six heroes underwater battling legions of sea creatures, led by larger sea creatures, in order to claim a powerful Mask? (The execution was very different, I admit, but the core is much the same.)

If I sound mad, it’s because I am – at this position. I’m sick and tired of hearing these comments over and over. But I’m not mad at you, and I don’t want you to take this as an attack.

I wonder if there are going to be legit combiner models for these villains…now that could be cool to see.

what if it’s like the flood, where the dead bodies merge together to form a “gravemind”, that could be cool

In regards to some of point 2, could you read this? HugeDomains.com

Btw, I think it’s more likely that the majority of kids buy sets because they look cool, not because of the story.

They’d buy one or two that way. If they were really vested in a story, they would want to… cue commercial guy… collect them all.

If not, I’ll make my own :stuck_out_tongue:

I quite concur. It’s nicely done and really does a good job of showing the landscapes. Also, the box art leaves a lot of mysteries as well as foreshadowing I feel.
